so yesterday i put in a set of airhorns i got from a SS member and today i put on new mirror brackets...i had those super wide ones and didnt care for them so i bought a set of the shorter ones. didnt take much work..bout an hour and a half for each project..the airhorns arent done yet..dont...
RAYZER...actually it wasnt as squirley as you'd think. i thought it would be bouncy but it felt almost normal to me... i used to drive M35's in alaska in the 172nd SPT BN. they were all older then most of the soldiers driving them lol...
USAFSS.... yah i have a couple spotter mirrors to put...
well i made it back home without any problems...other then i need to fix my dash lights...had to hang a small flashlight off the windshield arm so i could see the speedo...i dont know when my next trip will be but itll be fun now that i know the trucks a runner. heres a couple pics..
so..i made it to work with no issues. the truck wasnt nearly as bouncy as i thought it would be, being that its just a cab and chassis at the moment.all the gauges read normal, no unusual shakes or shimmys (as far as usual goes with an old ass deuce). there is some water/coolant seepage around a...
im gonna throw my 2cents in here... it is most likely a FA/18 hornet judging by the shape of the tail.
and although JSF's and Raptors are made back east at Marietta, they do ship some through Cali on trucks...since we do have one of the main testing facilities for JSF and Raptors here...but...
So today ( 1-5-11) im planning on taking my 109 (sans van body) out for its first trip out of town. up till now, ive driven it 4 times around town, twice to the scales and twice just cruisin'. This first major milestone will be a short trip to work (bout 50 miles one way) but it should be fun...
i hauled mine from the marine corps logistics base in Barstow and towed it 100 miles on a heavy equipment trailer on the back of a ford F-350 with a 5th wheel. the trailer had tandem dual axles with a GVWR of like 21K so the deuce was no problem. some parts were slow going but it pulled just fine.
100dollarman? he lives out there in Lucerne valley right? seems itd be shorter to hit the 395 north to the 58 and catch the 5 on the other side of bakersfield.....not as steep a climb as the 5...shorter too (i think:confused: ). and if you do go that way you will come right through my town ;)
..i have a class A commercial....but i never bothered to ask if its required since i have it...BUT i dont beleive it is...id have to look at the reg book but i think the deuce falls short of the class B weight requirement....and since it dosnt have full airbrakes it might be an exception. ill...
i looked...barstow is where i got my 109..if i had more $$$ i woulda outbid them today at the last minute haha...i want one...
oh and @ shootiniron : last time i looked they were like 1900-3000 bucks...i think
i hate seeing stuff like this. i used to see it once in a while when i was driving. really makes u wonder why people still do stupid things like putting a paperclip in a fuse panel.... "itll never happen to me" ....famous last words :(
yikes...ive seen upclose what a MV looks like when its been rolled. when i was stationed in AK a unit from anchorage came up for an FTX and on their way home there was freezing rain and a M923 W/oW TPU with 2 500 gal fuel tanks in the back slid and rolled off the side of the highway. the 2...
haha..we used to do this in alaska..we would tie 6-8 ropes though at different lengths and go real fast and have "sled wars" on the ORV roads on Ft. Wainwright near the ski hill...soo much fun!
i dont remember exactly what company i got the jacks from. i just googled "camper jacks" and sifted around till i found these. they are classed as heavy duty, as they have a 2 thousand lbs lifting capacity. thats why i got them because i had no idea how much the box weighed. i wasnt sure how to...
lol you know, i only took the box off so i could work on it seperate from the chassis..but once it was off i actually thought real hard about leaving the jacks on and getting a bed too just so i could have both...but i also thought about some easier method for the frame bolts lol...like some...
