    m1008 surging. bad injection pump??

It might help just to change the top cover with its internal parts. These parts tend to work inpropper if the fuel was contaminated with water, so they rust. Are your electrical connections good? Sometimes they are not very tight and tend to temporarily fail. Wolf

    Air compressor regulator noise

If you hear a sneezing noise on a M35 series truck, the govenor is worn out, no matter witch type of compressor is installed. Two flow compressor regulator noises are lower than in line pressure regulators. Wolf

    Finished my winch install

Nice job! But, why did you use a new bumper. Just turn the previous upside down. Thats what the US-Army was doing here in Europe after such a modification. Wolf

    Thats not engine oil

Hey, you engine would have survived the ATF filling and would have the engine cleaned up. Engine cleaning is done with pure Diesel fuel. The 85-140 gear oil also realy would not destroy your engine, in cold temperatures it would make a hard start, if the engine still would reach 200 rpm minimum...

    Air compressor regulator noise

How is your brake performance? The problem you describe sounds like full air tanks, but not with air, with water or a ice clocked line. Do you have an alcohol injector in your truck, is it filled up with alcohol? For the winter problems in Europe since more than 20 years trucks have air dryers...

    14.00 on stock rims?

You do not have this marking in the states due to the speed limits. However, if you have European tires, speed is give by the speed index according ETRTO. F equals 80 km/h, G equals 90 km/h, J equals 100 km/h, K equals 110 km/h. Higher speed indices for trucks are NOT available for Off Road...

    M37 Plowing snow yesterday.

Looks like a good job for the M37. Driving in winter on the road and no salt and other vehicle damaging artificial material arround arround! Wolf

what size tires and what brand do you guys run

31-10.50R15 or 33-10.50R15 or 33-12.5 R15, at least LR C, work fine on a M1009. But you must balance them on regular bases. And you must care for the tire presssure. The Army says minimum is 2.9 bar (42 psi). My experiance over 200,000 miles is better to use 3.5 bar (50 psi). It extends...

    14.00 on stock rims?

Let's go to the legal aspect besides the others! Of course, 14.00R20 will physically fit on 6.5-20 rims. It looks a little bit strange only. But thats all. However, neigther Tire and Rim nor ETRTO allow 14.00-20 on this rim size. Legally it must be a 9.0-20, 10.0-20, 10.00V-20 or a 10.00W-20...

Yes, it is a 6.2 l Diesel. Bell housing is GM #1 slightly modified. Clutch actuation likage is mainly homemade. The adapter between transmission and bell housing is 57 mm long and also homemade. Left side exhaust manyfold is home made from two hummer exhaust manyfolds. Exhaust system is home...

    running again

Hey, I had some ratteling noise when I depressed the clutch. So after some recherch I found out, ist must be the pilot bearing. It took some time to take it apart and to reassemble it. I changed by this to the newer starter Model and got the speedemetercable adjusted. Here are the pics: Wolf

    Mercedes Benz 4x4 1017

Ulf, your pic is a Magirus 168A11 FL or a 110-17AW. The first is from the same period of time as the 1017A. Anyway, the price of 21000$ seems to be quiet high. You do not know the condition. By the way, 24 V is the standard Voltage ratio for european trucks, so that are mass production parts...

    M151's still out there? Look

Hey, Gentlemen, without reading me throu all the posts. some facts: The M151 was designed in the fifties (1950s). So the handeling is like the vehicles of that time. The first series had been a bit tricky to drive, especially on european roads with no speed limit, for the vehicle was designed...

    glow plugs suck

The glowing harness page says nothing about the interior derign of the controler (I own the related manual). You need the diagnostic system to find out whether the controler is ok. But who owns a military diagnostic system! Electrolytic capacitors have a live time of about 15 to 18 years, than...

    6.2L Winter starting issues/strategies

ABN 173, your advice works with a propper pre glow controler only. If you read the manual, you will find that the controler is designed to limit the glowing current after a specified period of time. And the manual says: Never glow more than 2 minutes! However, this will not work propperly with...
