It might help just to change the top cover with its internal parts. These parts tend to work inpropper if the fuel was contaminated with water, so they rust.
Are your electrical connections good? Sometimes they are not very tight and tend to temporarily fail.

If you hear a sneezing noise on a M35 series truck, the govenor is worn out, no matter witch type of compressor is installed. Two flow compressor regulator noises are lower than in line pressure regulators.

you engine would have survived the ATF filling and would have the engine cleaned up. Engine cleaning is done with pure Diesel fuel.
The 85-140 gear oil also realy would not destroy your engine, in cold temperatures it would make a hard start, if the engine still would reach 200 rpm minimum...
How is your brake performance? The problem you describe sounds like full air tanks, but not with air, with water or a ice clocked line. Do you have an alcohol injector in your truck, is it filled up with alcohol?
For the winter problems in Europe since more than 20 years trucks have air dryers...
You do not have this marking in the states due to the speed limits. However, if you have European tires, speed is give by the speed index according ETRTO. F equals 80 km/h, G equals 90 km/h, J equals 100 km/h, K equals 110 km/h. Higher speed indices for trucks are NOT available for Off Road...
Forget it, corrosion on the aluminium lines. Look for new parts or get them coustom made made at your local hydraulic shop. The connection is a GM special design and not as general hydraulic spare on the market.

I had some ratteling noise when I depressed the clutch. So after some recherch I found out, ist must be the pilot bearing. It took some time to take it apart and to reassemble it. I changed by this to the newer starter Model and got the speedemetercable adjusted.

your advice works with a propper pre glow controler only. If you read the manual, you will find that the controler is designed to limit the glowing current after a specified period of time.
And the manual says: Never glow more than 2 minutes!
