Do you know this for a fact? I've never seen anyone actually be able to pin down exactly what GL pays the GOV for this stuff, but I have a strong feeling its mere pennies on the dollar, so they are not out much when you compare it to what they would spend retrieving the items and doing it the...
As a tax payer, both those situations, flat piss me off. Nobody should be "giving" away Gov. property. Just because it isn't listed yet does not mean its not on the books. If I founf my self in that situation I would askfor arefund and state exactly how I feel about it if I were offered...
Good luck, you'll probably get a refund on what you paid for the lot but I seriously doubt GL HQ in AZ will even think of getting anything for your gas and time to pick up the truck.
They will tell you "you should have previewed the lot before you bid" Its in their fine print.
The cops may not care but out on the public roads the DOT and the "Tax" man will care.(along with your insurance company, should you have a little accident in your commercially used truck)
What do you plan on doing with the truck? You can make your axles survive 37's or larger if you just toot around town like grandma. But if you want to go wheeling I'd go no larger than 33's.
Like gimpy said just place a "wanted" ad in the classifieds. (you do not have to be a paid member for that.)
What to look for? Just like any used trailer, tires and bearings are about all you have to worry about if your going to tow it home empty. That and you'll need a set of 12V lights. Once...
OK looking at it closer, you do not have to remove rivets. You can unbolt the trunion and you have to remove the upper dog bones, either at the axle ends or at the bogey end.
The one thing I question is, how much are the axles going to flop around making it hard ro re-align onceyou want to...
The bogey assembly IS riveted to the frame on the bottom flange. You will have to cut rivets.
I have a bogey sitting outside from the bobber project i'll go get some pics to show whatyou have to cut.
Were any of your tires flat when you got the truck? if the truck sits on flat tires it will ruin them, and GL doesnt bother to air them up before moving them around.
roflroflroflrofl
You're new here aren't you?
*edit* I'm just kidding around with you. If you hang around here long enough you'll realize there is no rhyme or reason to the way GL and the GOV. surplus things out.
Did you win that today? Have you been "officially"notified by GL? I've heard stories of people submitting EUC's on Thursdays before being notified and they end up in the round-file.
Did it have a cover on it when you picked it up? Mud daubers (wasp like bee's) may have clogged it up. If you have them in AZ.
*edit* Just to satisfy my curiousity, you do know that some of theMil valves are backwards from the civy counterpart. (handle inline with the airline is closed)
This is krylon "fusion" OD camo. When (or if) I get around to doing the M818 it will be with Rapco so it will look more original.
*edit* No its not for sale anymore. Its been sold. (I really need to edit that number out of that pic)
