    Yet another blown head gasket

I have swapped the manafolds between trucks while doing turbo experments. I haven't seen any differences between the two. What is different?

    switch from LDT to LDS

Usally these engines went to some place like toole for rebuild. Since the engines use the exact same block the tag went with the engine. If you have a LDS in a 2 1/2 ton truck that doesen't mean you have a LDS. You have a block that was originally in a 5TON. Unless you installed it. And swapped...

    Turbo Ideas/Parts

The compression fitting it probally at the wrong angle. If the turbo is new/rebuilt loosen the clamp holding the exaust gas casing to the bearing housing. Then remove the drain bolts, air outlet and inlet. loosen the oil inlet pipe on both ends and rotate the bearing housing back and forth...

    Where to Tap Tranny Pan

Mine and others i've seen are tapped at the back of the pan. On the drivers side rear. And on the side of the pan. Not on the bottom. And the dirty pics you show show are really pretty clean. Mine had a 1/4thick layer of crud in it. After flushing and changing the filter it shifts much smoother.

    Where to Tap Tranny Pan

Mine has a drain on it already. And all the ones i've seen have drains on them too. Kinda wierd? Anyway, I'd install the temp sender on the "Hot" line going to the rad. The temp in the pan will be cooler. Although not by much. It would give you a better idea of the true temps in the tranny.

    Turbo Boost Gauge

A "C" turbo will give you 20 PSI with enough fuel added. But you will soon end up with little chunks of head gasket allover the firewall. Please don't ask how i know this!!! You might wan't to drop the fuel rate just a little.

    Cucv extreme rattle noise

Any white smoke? A injector drippling can dump liquid fuel on top of the piston. Making the cylinder fire when i shouldn't, slamming the rod into the crank. Test each exaust port with a heat gun. And see if one one more is colder than the others. After the engine is at operating temp.

Tap Broken off in M1009 front yoke

You'll need a 1/4 inch center cutting carbide end mill. Turning in a dril press or even better a milling machine. At less than a 100 RPM's while soaking it with cutting oil. And take small pecks at it. If you cut too much at one time. The flutes will fill up with chips and break the endmill. If...

    CUCV Hand Throttle

The cable i used was off of a MEP. As far as the cruse goes. It has a seperate throttle cable mounted next to the throttle cable. That comes from a funny looking diafram canaster. My 82, 6.2 civi truck has one of these. Also you could find a dentent cable bracket for a 700R4. Then you could mount...

    C Turbo or D Turbo????

Military steel, Yes i have overhauled many of these. Alongwith many "C" models. They usally fail from coking. Oil baking on the bearing from being shut down while they are still too hot.

    CUCV Hand Throttle

Yea, I had one on the M1008 i had. I used a getset throttle cable. I drilled a hole in the metal part of the dash under the blackout light switches. The turnable knob worked well for adjusting RPM's. And the red button in the middle made a quick return to idle a snap. I ran the cable through the...

    6.2 detonation

Check the harmonic balencer. If it's spun. You may have cracked your block/crank. Mine has done this. It ran fine but ratteled.

    C Turbo or D Turbo????

Duece coupe. The D is a better turbo. It has a bigger bearing, extra heat shield for the bearing housing. And a larger turbine and compressor wheel. And on the flow bench it will move more CFM's. One easiy way to tell the difference between the two is, The "C" will have a band clamp holding...
