CLay, Yes low speed light load running will make it smoke. The turbo needs to get hot enought to seal. Don't drive it like you stole it. But give it something to do. About 3 miles if working will clear it right up.
My M1028 has two redtop optima's. But not all red tops are created equal. There is a cheezy model. It will have the side post mounts at the outer edges. These redtops have less cranking amps than the others with the side post close to the middle. Even if it has these it would be enough to start...
Jesse, I run air tools off of my M35 alot. I got a 12 gallon portable air tank and plumbed it into the line. I then set the engine RPM's at 1500. I have enough power to run my 3/4 drive impact to remove all 6 lugnuts. The engine will refill the air tanks while i'm moving the tire or what ever...
Charles,
Saturn has the heads. As far as finding the arms try boyce equipment. They sometimes get the old forrestry service trucks and might be able to salvage the arms for you. If you find some, Can i have dibbs on your elephant ears???
I found some 24V power inverters the other day. Just google it. It would take less doing with running extra wiring. Might i also sudjest a 100 amp alternator. Mabye one off a M1010. Or a M998 hummvee. This would also help recharging and running the radios. Although running the multi just for...
I got a airfilter housing from a 92 civi truck. The intake opening is much larger and i noticed a small increase in seat of the pants power. I'm looking for a hose to run it to the rad support now. Although it did reduce the noise alot on it's own.
Really i was worried about her trying to drive it 60MPH down the road. I can see it now cell phone in one hand and wide open throttle. With pretty holes in the engine block soonafter.
Beanman. That it where the fuseable link is. The part he needs to test. If that link is burnt. Then running the wire there won't tell him much. The alt power out wire will put power to the harness. I wouldn't run it this way. Just use it for a test. If this is his problem. Then he would need to...
To test if the fuseable link is burnt. Run a 10gauge wire. And NO LESS than a 10 gauge! From the 12v positive side of the first battery, (The one closest to the head light) to the power out post on the first alternator. Everything should come on. If not then you have a bad ground. Make sure the...
Guess i should have givin more detail. She wanted to use the truck to haul mulch and rocks for flower beds and such. Dragging a trailer around the yard and hauling tree limbs to a burn pile. But she will need to drive it into town to get supplies for her projects. I thought of limiting throttle...
Does anyone know the procedure for govener adjustment on the 6.2?
My wife will be driving my M1028 on occasion. I'd like to adjust the engine speed down to a level that she can't blow it up. Mabye set it at 2800 RPM's instead of 3600. Any other sudjestions for limiting engine speed??
I've been working on this myself. It seems the newer oils have lower zinc content.
This presents a problem for solid lifters. valvoline makes a high zinc oil just for old engines. I've sen it at the hotrod shop here in town. So far we have been using straight 30 castrol. with no probelms.
You'll have to be more specific. Are you talking the DB-2 pump vesres the DS-4 pump? The DS-4 is eletronic. And a major piece of crap!! The DB-2 will flow plenty of fuel. Even with the marine injectors.
When they switched to the 800's for the 5tons they then had LDS engines with no home. So they rebuilt and re used them in 2 1/2 tons. I have also opened a egnine can and found a tag on a sopposed LDS that read. "this engine has 2 1/2 pistons installed. " And as far as the 50 More horse power...
