Did GEP 6.5 engines use gaskets for timing cover?

Only the water pump and backing plate get a gasket…they both come in the kit. Also, replace your front crank seal before installing the Harmonic balancer.

Injection pump won't move when turning crank.

I’ve done this procedure 3 times in my life, the oil pan does not use a gasket, the bolts won’t come off if you use red loctite and the fact it’s captive once the timing gear cover is reinstalled. clean all the old RTV off the oil pan and clean with acetone, leave absolutely no trace of...

Bringing back to life a 2009 HMMWV M1165A1 from GovPlanet - total newbie, please help...

absolutely not, and why would you not want the DS removed, it’s 4 5/16 bolts and it’s a slip yoke. you have way more work getting the tank out compared to that Task.

Injection pump won't move when turning crank.

I had this happen on a customer truck…it’s a lot of work, radiator stack comes out, water pump backing plate, possibly even the timing gear cover housing, in my case, the woodruff key sheared off the Crank, I would have been happy to have had been the cam shaft…but noooo.

There is no schematic as it’s part of a kit…the instructions are in the kit and uses oil pressure gauge for power. the new harness provided goes to the generator for source signal.

    Buyer's Regret?

Common sense isn’t common and I know your just joking about looking in the TM’s, you can’t even tell a person on this forum to look it up in the TM without getting flamed or a violation… I was only offering up my opinion, but sounds like you got it covered pretty well.

    Buyer's Regret?

How do you know if this person knows what he’s talking about? 90% or more HMMWV owners never drove one before they bought it, never spent time in the service, never drove one in the service.

    Buyer's Regret?

American Humvee, Blackdog customs , Retired war horses “Shameless plug”. I wouldn’t get concerned with where the trucks located, just factor in transportation costs into your price, it’s more important to get a mechanically sound truck not someones weekend project. If you can do your own work...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

there is no torque settings to worry about on an idler pulley. ITS just a 1/2in nut with a flat washer and lock washer.

    Issue with motor swap

Without looking, isn’t that the Tcase lock lamp wire harness…plugs in, in conjunction with 458A and B. it uses the 24v to light the lamp…

Happy day, M1123 arrived today, question on fuel line

just buy a quality 3.5mm diesel rated drain back line, I buy it in 100ft rolls for the shop. Diesel rated has a yellow stripe on the braided covering. Almost every truck from auction needs new lines when they arrive into the shop, most of the time the hose used during reset was a non-fuel rated...

    5w40 diesel oil

Straight 15w-40 from any company works fine…Diesel engine oil has a detergent due to high ash content. Most off brands are all made by the same refinery’s

HMMWV just delivered. Do I try and start after fresh fuel, oil and filters?

Your waiting on parts that have zero to do with a running healthy motor…The hose is off the top of the injec pump because GP attempted to make it run,t hey get more money for running trucks. while you may get fuel from the over flow, does not mean the pump is any good. you will get fuel from the...
