Here is a gauge enclosure Ive made a few of. Most of them have been with 2 round gauges, some with just 1 round gauge, and some with 1 round gauge and the DIN32 Rectangle cutout for the small digital (& less expensive ) Auber Brand pyro setup.
It is really nice having the gauges right in...
One of the best bets might just be to see what miltary wheels you have in your area that you can purchase without needing to get them shipped. I guess it all depends on your budget. A3 wheels are usually expensive and as shown by Gringeltaube, not the correct rim to use with 395s. Purchased...
Just like the M109 being a big green oven, this Cargo Box Cover (CBC) on the 105 trailer gets blazin hot inside too. I decided to add some vents to the slanted areas on the top front and back. I got 4 aluminum "pop up" vents from ebay they were new take outs so they just had a couple scratches...
Some bolts are even a little larger than others. I replaced the 8 bolts holding the axle in, and found some brands were just a hair too large to go into the tight fitting clearance holes of the axles (and lockouts/spacers). I bought a different brand and they fit. Regardless, if the lockouts...
That is REALLY Cool! I also used to be into RC stuff too like a lot of you other guys (except it was RC Gas boats). Its been 10 years since I crashed the last one (and nicest) one I built though..... (hit a swimming turtle at 60mph )
if you just wanted the spot/search light then you can get remote versions of that as well. Below is a picture of one. Or for less than $20 you can get a small handheld or keychain remote with anywhere from 1-8 channels that has a reciever board with 12v or 24v relays to control the lights.... or...
I talked to a couple sellers of newstar parts and they said the most recent shipments of the newstar brake parts have been from Taiwan. Prior to that many of the wheel cylinders and rebuild kits were USA made (as of last year, early this year even). I know on ebay many folks had them listed as...
Regarding the Radiator mount: Mine had the sheetmetal piece rotted out but the bar/bracket was still salvageable after I chipped away all the rust and that gasket piece that collects the water and causes the rust. I just made a new sheetmetal covering for it and was good to go again. I think...
yes...the end of these USA kits may be near. I know I called napa and they got them for me in a couple days from the "warehouse" which ended up being 3 different warehouses, so perhaps this is getting down to the last of them. I bought some New old stock wheel cylinders off ebay from...
I think I know the problem since my truck had it and I've read about it a few times now. You don't even need to pull the mc. Very likely the brake pedal pushrod has come out of the master cylinder piston pocket behind the boot and doesn't let the piston fully retract home and return fluid...
Here is the fuel line/hose from the primary fuel filter to the injector pump that I am going to replace with a 1 piece hose. Currently its a long section of copper tube that is crushed in a couple spots, its then connected to a 12" rotted rubber hose section that finally connects to the Injector...
The trailer and Cargo Box cover has been a bit of a pain to put stuff in since I've just been throwing it on the floor and there isnt a way to tie anything down inside the CBC. I decided to get some 2x4's and started making a wood frame and shelving inside the cargo box so I could get a few...
I had some braided stainless brake lines made up (for next year's brake overhaul). They turned out nice, if anyone is interested PM me or check the classifieds as I'll put them up for sale there also. Apparently our trucks use some larger fittings that arent super common so not always stocked...
I'll get some firm prices this week when I pick up the hoses (they had to order a few fittings). The brake hoses would be about double the price of the stock Chinese ones... So about $50 ea or $250 for a full set. The one piece SS braid fuel line probably more like $75
Thanks for the nice compliments. I have a couple more pictures I'll get up soon. My current fuel line from the primary filter to the IP is crushed in a few spots so I'm making a 1 piece braided stainless hose to replace the current 2 piece hose. I'm also having some dot approved braided...
Thanks Clay. I probably got the idea for the foil foam from you! I know I was following your build when you did the conversion. I don't remember the snow roof you mentioned however? Does that mean you just painted the roof white, or did you add a second stand-off type roof leaving an air gap?
I'm sure the wheels aren't probably offically called MRAP's, but that seems to be the most common vehicle they are put on that Im aware of. They are used on other vehicles, but I cant find many pictures at the moment. Even some PLS and other trailers have wheels with the same pilot hole and bolt...
By the way I replaced the gladhand seals and am now using the 105 brakes too. It made a big difference in stopping distance, havent locked them up yet either (something I've read was common when the trailer wasnt heavily loaded).
I stand corrected, its an eye teaser for me then. I figured a 12" pilot hole with a 13" hole pattern of 1" bolts would nearly overlap. You are correct in that the 10 hole pattern would match the mraps anyway if its: 10x -1" holes on 13.1875" diameter (to center of holes).
