Stalled and will not start again, Please Help!!

This problem has nothing to do with the glow plugs. It is the unfriedly big contanct on top of the IP. If this has no sure contact, the engine will not run. I replaced this shoe by a crimped o-contact which i fixed to the pump by nut and bolt. Means I removed the nut that holds the tounge of...

    shocks

I do not know if there is some aftermarket stuff available. But to my knowledge the original stuff fits fine. So see your MB-dealer. Even Unimog is expensive, you have to live with it. Wolf

Who has the Highest Mileage Deuce?

Clinto has a A3 tacho. Right, milage means not so much. If a truck goes into Depot manitanance, it is rebuilt to a so called new condition. This means all gauges are set to 0. The tachometer is set as said on the housing, to 1500 rpm an hour which will be one hour. Higher rpm will make it count...

Both king pins are standard arround the world, the 2" is the standard one and the 3.5 " is heavy duty towing in the class over 100 tons. This King in in Europe does not exist. Here it is a 3" king pin. And as far as I know, in the states it is also 3 " and not 3.5 ". Wolf

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

The M35 A3 is a M35A2 with a new instument cluster comprising a tachogarph instead the standard speedometer and tachometer and some minor other modifications. (The history on these trucks can bee seen on trucks beeing rebuilt to the latest standard here in Europe. You will see any step of...

Max trailer weight with out trailer brakes

According to my manuales as well of the Deuce and the 5 ton they are limited to 3500 lbs unbreaked and 10000 lbs to 20000 lbs with brakes. Both values for on Highway. The Sherifs, I think, are aware of these values. The Army is always on the safe side for the brake performance. A perfectly...

    Rear differential axle gasket

Ever made it myself from gasket paper (Abil Papier 0.25 mm), even it is available in Germany at the well asorted spare part shop for US cars. If the guy knows its job, he even does not need a VIN, he just gives you the right part. However, for stock parts in the NAPA shop the M1009 and simelar...

Help with 6.2L heater hose couplers

For it is a Detroit Diesel engine, did you ask there for the nipples. I think that almost all the stuff around the water pump is something standard as I found out when I replaced the water pump on my 6.2 l Blazer some 10 years ago, even in Germany. Wolf

    M35A3 RPM Gauge Not Working?

Electric tachs are only in the A3 versions in Europe. However, they are povered by the standard mechanical cable. To my experience most the times the mech cabel is overbend somewere and the protective rubber hose is craced due to age. It is difficult to see, however, below it, the cable is...

Great trailer, but do not try to ask J.D. for help. Vegoil destroys engines?

You can run vegie oil with your engine as long as you like! However you have to consider: Is the engine of a classic designe, means pre chamber or so called M-system. Direct injection of the first generation also is possible. More modern stuff will run, howerver with some long term effects. The...

    Working on Ol' Blue

winch problem: as to my experiance it happens very often, that the wnich never was used in the Army, at least not under load. Some times it happens, that the corrosion protection stuff clogs the oil holes. Even with a porpperly oil fill of the winch it will happen, that the oil will not reach...

    Brake lights stuck on…

Summery of above: The brake light shwich might be worn, so permanent stop light. Remaining pressure in the system will mean the master valve has some problems. If the master valve works propperly, some relais valves might stuck (very uncommon failure). If you find the brake lines after the...

!!NO Brakes!! Lost the brakes on the 818 today!! Need brake lines!!

The failed brake hose should be a standard 1/2 inch brake hose, a mass production part and be available in any truck shop from the big drum. Just get your size cut from the drum and fix it with new clamps. That should solve your problem. Wolf
