Air line leak / repair ?

Some tape is not a professional repair. As said, go to your Diesel shop or hydraulics shop and get a new one made. Do not rely on 40 year old stock parts, if you can get a new one for relatively small money! Wolf

    Coolant filter in CUCV

In Japan British racing green was always the first choise and available from the SOP. Anyway, the old Miatas start to get some value if in aceptable condition. Wolf

    My 1954 M37 Recovery

That was a very common use in France for surplus Dodges from WWI. Either with a home made lifting boom or a cut down bomb set of a GMC. GMC were also use as "remorque tout tonnage", means for all weights. They could pull even 40 tons in low gear. Wolf

    Coolant filter in CUCV

Your MIATA is in britsh racing green with light broun leather seats? The only fitting color to my opinion. By the year it should be a NA. I was involved in the homologation of this car (always was to small for me). Wolf from Germany, in 1990 in Japan

Anyone ever install a nos m1009 rear end?

To my experiance: trust noboby, check everything! I have seen factory rebuilt startes with inproper assembly, rebuilding kits with oversized bushings (newly unpacked, factoy falt) carburetors with falty assembly, transmissions with wrong assembly (unshiftable) and so on. This not neccessarily...

    Coolant filter in CUCV

Hey, problem is known! Your truck has a replacement engine. The conservation matierial inside the engine makes the coolant look like dirty. I have the same problem with a 1984 built engine, which I bought in 1996 new out of the box (it was still in there) and fixed to my Kaiser Jeep M715 in...

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

Hey, DIRT 71, thats the right way, to only way to restore a truck! Due to your pics it is clear to me that you want your truck in a absolutely reliabely condition. That's the way I maintain my vehicles. What so ever someone might state, continue your way. Discussions about color: Ignor it. If...

    what a mess

Unimogs are expensive. Parts also! If there is not only a joint broken (Which to my experience on a Unimog will not happen.) the repair is not a cheep one, if it will not require a new/ used/overhowled front axle and related parts. Due to the pics this looks like an accident. This means there is...

    2 Pin Connector

This is the classical jump start connector. It is to jump start the truck with low batteries. But it will not put your batteries to live again, if they are definately dead. This receptical in Germany is called "Scheineschnauze" or pig nose in English. There are adapters available from the...

    Coolant filter in CUCV

If you have cooling problems a cooland filter will not realy help. The problem is a partly cloged radiator. Try to get a new one (which not realy will make happy due to the age of them). The better choise is to get the old one completely rebuilt at a radiator shop. To my experiance that helps. Wolf

What is power junction block in cab for?

Thats it. If you do not have the military diagnostis device, ignore ot or take all the related harenes of the diagnostis recepticel out. It is good for noting without the equipment. Wolf

11.00x16 XL Michelins in DC area

Within legal limits 11.00R16 are usable for a M715 series truck. Theoretically the tyre size should also fit into the spare tire mount, at least by diameter. The 11.00R16 are only some 25 mm (about one inch) larger in the actual static diameter than 9.00-16. The width is almost the same with the...

    Air shocks on M1009 ??

I summed up my experiance with 16 years with a M1009 over 232000 miles until rust killed the truck besides my knowledge as a motor vehicle expert. Those members which oppose the shocks with any kind of suspension in it are technically correct. The air bag between frame and axle is the better...

    Air shocks on M1009 ??

Air shocks will not help with weak springs. Many rear springs of the M1009 are weak due to overload in the Army. And to much load is something the rear axle is not designed for, especially at higher speeds. The rating of the rear axle without major design changes increased from 3400 lbs to 3750...

WTS light comes on when engine revs

Wait to glow problems are normal after some 120000 miles. The livetime of the Ggow controler card is over. Must be replaced. Glowing problems also might be related to a defect temp sensor on the rear left end right side of the left cylinder head. This sensor is directly connected to the...

    Alternator ground question

Ground to gen1 The black cable is the ground of gen 1 on the driver side. The connector is the same as the terminal that comes from the connector on the bulk head as a red one to gen 2 (called the eng wrg harness block). For details refer to TM 9 2320-289-20 page F-11. Wolf
