If you take a typical 3% loss per 1000' of altitude you are going to be down about 15% in engine output in comparison to being at sea level.
The generator is RATED for 5kw. Sure you can dip into its over-design but its RATING is 5kw.
At sea level I can get between 6.5kw and 7kw out of a good...
The float only opens and closes the solenoid. The pump runs full time when in AUX/Run. When the pump reaches maximum pressure with no flow it clicks very slowly. That is normal. The clicking will pick up its pace when it starts moving fuel.
Have you downloaded the manuals from the TM section of the forum yet? They offer a wealth of information to get you started. Most of what you hear from us is going to be exactly is what is in the manual as the first steps to figuring out the problem.
Wetstacking fears are for the most part overblown. It absolutely is a real thing and does happen. It doesn't happen in 30 minutes of idle time. The units you see wetstacked with stuff ooozing out of the exhaust took many tens of hours with no load to get to that condition.
Since the group here...
There is a minimum fuel burn rate. Its around 0.15 GPH for a 802 and around 0.25 GPH for a 803. The fuel burn rate ramps up pretty linearly from there.
My brother in Kinston NC ran for about a day on a MEP802. Purred like a kitten the entire time he says. He was able to load manage and run his AC, cooktop, and water heater as needed to keep everyone happy. His power is back on but his internet went down. I'll get a full report on oil and fuel...
So much good info in this thread. Extremely happy you stuck it out and got it licked. Many will benefit from all your work. Sounds great now. NICE JOB! [thumbzup]
I recommend reading the LO located in the link provided. Follow it. Oil analysis is not expensive. Analysis will tell you if you need to enhance the oil system to get the desired change interval.
An additional bit of info is a 804 running in the 8-10kw output range is going to burn around...
Maybe or maybe not. During cranking the RPM of the engine is so low that the valves will open relatively slowly. You may not get a pop.
If you really want to nail it in you put a dial indicator on the valves and a degree wheel on the crank. Just like we do when verifying valve timing on race...
Hi Matt,
Welcome to the site.
Per the manual it is 300 hours or longer with oil analysis. The initial break-in change is 100 hours.

These machines are PRIME rated. They will...
Could be as simple as a valve adjustment being just a hair tight. I can hear the sound too.
When I first put an engine together I tend to run a few extra thousandths extra clearance on the valves for the initial run-in. After everything has taken a basic set I'll bring them in to spec.
If...
