    Chucky's Worst Nightmare?

In the build videos from 5 tons of Discovery on YouTube, he did the same thing so that he could work on chassis items if he needed to.

Does the m800 use the same caging bolts as an fmtv

We got it moved with no problems. Bulldog towing was very professional, and their drivers were former Marine corps wrecker drivers. They got it moved into a very tight dead end neighborhood without so much as even running over a curb! One question, the back of the truck on the left side of the...

Sergeant York had a CAT scan...

Will do when I have the hardware to control it

Sergeant York had a CAT scan...

My neighbor's grandson is a mobile mechanic with the local CAT dealer. An exchange for a nice brass CAT belt buckle, he plugged into my truck and gave it a full scan and analysis. Everything looked good!

Does the m800 use the same caging bolts as an fmtv

Using a big rig wrecker and a lowboy we're going to move an old inoperable m813 across the city. I don't know the condition of the brakes or if they're caged or if caging bolts are present but I just want to know if the caging bolts from my fmtv will work with it because I'm just going to bring...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Well you managed to find tires made only a couple of weeks ago! Out of morbid (pun possibly intended) curiosity how much did they run you not including shipping?

    Rear and Side Mounted Cameras

I did basically the same thing. System includes a nose camera also. The monitor sucks so I need to get a better one but it's nice having a bird's eye view when you need it!

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

My thought was not that the spring system suspends the box but that it captures it when the frame twists the rest of the time the habitat frame is resting on the truck frame separated by a rubber strip or a wood strip.

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

Updated design, 4" of travel, 1/2-13 limit bolt, 2" x 3/8 angles welded to the I-beam on the bottom half for side travel limit.

    LMTV CTIS UPGRADE

I would be interested, hopefully less then $100 each but that's not necessarily a deal breaker.

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

I would happily provide the cad files to anyone who should ask. PM me. CAD is SolidWorks 2022, can be exported as any standard file type.

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

Well for one thing finding springs of the right spring rate, rubber will be quieter, newer designs use rubber springs. The M1087 uses rubber springs. And I'm handy with McMaster-Carr website so that's what I found! Suppose I could use die springs also. Try as I might I couldn't seem to find...

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

That's the standard upper frame section for the lmtv, and the standard lower frame rail for an expando van box. I suppose I could put two springs on top of each other with a washer in between instead of two in a row like that then I would double my travel

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

I was going to see if the water jet shop could cut my I-beam into chunks for me. Otherwise it may be the plasma cutter which I've never tried yet! What could possibly go wrong...

Rubber spring bolt camper Mount design.

I came up with this design for mounting my expand-o-van habitat on my M1083 from looking at similar mounting systems including the M1087 mounting system. The lower bracket is made from an I-beam that I have that 6 in by 8 in x 3/8 in thick, and the upper bracket is made from frame rail portions...

    LMTV: winch on the deck

Does anyone know what type of steel this bed is made from because I think I'll make a cad model of the bed on my M1083, and a 2-ft shorter version for the M1078. applying the proper material could lead to good results from FEA

    LMTV: winch on the deck

Considering the mounting tube is welded to the top and the side rails and the bottom layer I'd say could probably withstand a considerable Force!

    LMTV: winch on the deck

    Sounds like an awesome idea.

    Door Handle Failure

I got sick of the stupid rickety Volvo door handles held on by two little screws, so I replaced mine with much nicer paddle handles that fit from the back with a trim plate on the front and six screws. Especially since one of mine broke off! But those are nice looking repair pieces!

    Removing CARC paint from tire

One of the Goodyear tires I bought for my fmtv has crusty over spray on both sides that looks like it was near a vehicle that was being painted with CARC. Now it's covered with a crusty coating of it on both sides. Or at least that's what it looks like. What would be a good way to clean that...
