LD,
Check for play at each end of the pitman arm. If there is any play at the shaft sticking through the top of the pitman arm then the two brass bushings in the steering box at the output shaft need to be replaced. If there is any play at the other end where the pitman arm connects to the...
Here's where I slept just east of Little Rock. The 109 option sure comes in handy! In the second pic y'all can see I was "tired".
The other pics are from the morning I started out of Houston.
Fred,
That line is a breather line for taking the truck for a swim in a pond or mud hole. You need a 5/16 open end to remove it and then you can open up the master to check fluid level.
Armada,
It all depends upon application. If you put heavy loads on the engine and run the heck out of it it will need an overhaul much sooner. Light applications like parades and such the engine should last forever.
Bjorn,
That advice was written just after arriving here from Houston (and I mean directly!) Amazing how 12 hours of sleep puts me back into the pace of life......................
Well here's some pics of the return trip. I still have not figured up fuel milage. However, the truck is #14,880 with full tanks and me in it. The trailer is #4,400 empty. So we dropped off over #10,000 pounds of stuff. That's over 5 TONS! Who says women don't save everything??? Just...
SB,
The only problem with the unit numbers is the truck can not be used beyond parade use (Ken can tell you more like he's informing me). Ken, if I'm off a bit just correct me. It's a wee past midnight, had a long yet very productive day with a massive sunburn to prove it.
SB,
LED lights are designed to withstand the vibrations of trucks. Look at the civy applications on commercial trucks. Those guys had the first LEDs and with good reason. LED setups have a reputation for resiliant service under extreme conditions. The major drawback is the price. LEDs are...
SB,
All the info should be on the dataplate on the dash of the truck. There may be a date painted on the driver's door on the bottom left (mine has this). Also check on the frame of the truck on the passenger side just in front of the shock absorber mount. The date should be there as well. I...
Mangus580,
It was typical of a 1D motor with a hard top cab before installing the muffler. The combination of the muffler plus added height drastically cut back the decibels. Walking around to where the pipe ends and being up on the fenders while adjusting things under and on the hood I can...
LD,
The muffler is a #21470 from NAPA.
Bjorn,
This is a flow through muffler with side baffles. Actually it's three flow-through mufflers welded into one. You can actually see the different stages when looking down the inside of the can.
P.S.- I suspect Ken is a bit jealous of how quiet 'Storm...
PC,
Look under the passenger side wheel well either in front of where the shock absorber is mounted or just behind. To help make the VIN show through the paint carefully scrape the desert sand paint off (with some fortune it might flake off) and then use some black grease on the tip of your...
LD,
I'll have the number this afternoon when I'm installing my inline fuel pump (pics on that too). I had to go to a NAPA warehouse to find it in stock. Other NAPA places were going to charge to ship it closer to me. So I got in my car and $aved some money. The pipe is 3&1/2 inches and the...
