    Cleaning?

Guy I bought mine from did a pretty good job hosing/pressure washing out the truck, replacing the hood and doing some general painting, but the more I get into it, what's up with all those pick axe holes in the floor? Looks like they had DoD-approved patches made but there's a couple of 'em...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Got the dash panel LED upgrade done and, while I was at it, installed the poosh-button lightswitch. Took a little time to ensure I had as good a ground as I could get using a 1/4-20 bolt through the dash - I'd already installed the Kascar grounding kit, testing my ground out with a test light...

Instructions, add-ons, accessories, where to find them?

Came upon this issue when trying to read the instructions - copy of a copy of a second generation copy thereof, at best - included with the high back seat upgrade. Ditto the hand throttle accessory kit. I have a high-resolution laser printer/copier at work, but even tinkering with...

    looking for access cover

Thanks. Just going by what was said in the photo. And, apparently, I'm misreading the "sender unit gasket" verbiage as main plate, cover or whatever the nomenclature is for the big square gasket. This is like a Berlitz language school intensive. Not having a truck on hand with a dropped tank...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Put in a brand-new S3 PCB and sender. Another HMMWV ten minute project that turned into over an hour as one of the riv-nuts came loose instead of the bolt. I had to pull out the dremel tool with cutting discs and take the bolt head off in three pieces. Made sure all connections had some...

    looking for access cover

Much appreciated. Dimensions are one of the things I'm wondering about myself. The PS mag cartoon for the kit says one can change the top gasket AND sender from the port, and from pictures I've seen over on g503, it's only ab out 7x9". I'm hoping to make one at least 12x12, with supports, and...

    looking for access cover

I've been looking for an excuse to buy another one of those tools for years now. Many times I've had to improvise, or hold part of a hacksaw blade in a vise-grip or something to make cuts in odd locations. I'm pretty much committed to dropping the tank. I've got enough containers to drain the...

    looking for access cover

I'm a physician/surgeon. Amateur gunsmith (several dozen FN-FAL's, AR15s - milled receivers, M1911s under my belt), I figure on using a router with a 1/8 square-end cutter. I only need to cut through about 80% of the bed, the rest I can open up with a lever-action can opener (old kind, recall...

    HMMWV Fuel Tank Overflow?

This was a very helpful post. I've got an idea how to make a much larger cover/hatch, my thinking is, it SHOULD be possible to remove the plate/gasket though this and NOT remove the tank. What would be helpful is finding the original instructions for the kit for NSN 2510-01-454-7077 which...

    looking for access cover

That's what I'm trying to avoid, but it's looking more like I'll need to go that route.

    looking for access cover

Ditto. I KNOW I can make one, cutout, flaps, tabs, pop rivets, 10-24 riv nuts, no problem. But where, EXACTLY to cut the tunnel? Does ANYONE have the instructions for this from the kit for NSN 2510-01-454-7077? I have, literally, spent over an hour looking for these and the closest I've come...

    Fuel gauge goes to half

I figured this is why the gov't went with a clear-ish tank. If you see fuel it should run despite a wonky gauge.

    This HMMWV purpose?

I'm thinking ground guide for an airfield.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Put a two can ammo can tray up on top of the rt rear fender. began measuring for mudflaps - 2" 6061 angle brackets with 1-1/2 in flats to hold 12x18" flaps. Should bolt right up against frame behind wheels. I'll be sure and post pictures of both.

    Byrnie Mac's M998

Look under left side of dash (forward of ignition/light switch), box is bolted under engine compartment just to the right of the windshield washer fluid container. If your box has a small connector covered with a cap/chain, it's an S3.

    92 M998 6.2 hard to start

There IS a note in a TM somewhere about removing these, using some OIL on the plug (get it backed out and squirt some in the precombustion chamber liberally slathering the tip of the plug).I removed ONE by using a small vise-grip pliers just between the nut/thread and tapping a tapered drift...

    92 M998 6.2 hard to start

You DEFINITELY need to apply some high-temp anti-seize on those things. This is good: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0002UEOLO/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484699076&sr=sr-1&keywords=anti-seize

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Replaced/repaired wiring for windshield washer pump, replaced hoses, adel clamps, nozzles (from hummerpartsguy, the outrageously expensive ones), trimmed hood/rubber to fit nozzles. I'd replaced/refitted/sealed the tank and new pump several weeks ago while I dithered about how involved...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Got 3-point seat belts installed in the back. Had started yesterday but couldn't get one reel working - looked up the problem here, found some solutions, works great - then I couldn't get the anchor bolts started. LOOKED like I was going to need something smaller than what came in the kit, it...
