That's what Maryland MVA did for me. ROAD title was issued in Montana.
Truck's 25 years old, no inspection, registered historic, about $56 a year IIRC, plates in 3 days through an agency, no problem. I'm not driving it daily anyway.
YMMV.
If/when I get the bugs worked out, I plan on taking mine to parades and exhibits from time to time until such time as I can haul it down to our retirement home in Hampshire, TN where I plan on using the 18k lb hydraulic winch for hauling logs and whoknowswhat. Maybe I'll hook of a DR trencher...
26 years exposure to Nomenclature, Military, Cockeyed doesn't make looking up parts in the manuals any easier.
Spent I don't know how much time in the parts books (24P-1,2,3) trying to find fuel injector, injector, fuel or some other combination. Probably the wrong book, but it made sense to...
I recently had this exact thing happen - accidentally. I think I'd pushed the TC shifter forward while working under the gauge panel or something. Ran fine for about 3 miles until I pulled into a parking lot and IMMEDIATELY recognized what the locking and bucking was all about just not sure it...
I've been following your posts with much interest and have a great respect for your knowledge and experience.
If I'm reading THIS post correctly, can I assume you mean to say glow plugs don't matter AND the S3 box is the main element in the problem a lot of us are having with these trucks and...
Turns out BOTH the sellers I'd mentioned are selling Wellman plugs, which is what I installed, apparently (3HCM3 being WAP, LLC's MFR code), the "0.0000007% failure rate" line got my attention and it's exactly what all the other wellman sellers put on their webpages). From my photos, it looks...
Awesome, thanks a bizillion.
The NOMENCLATURE hung me up. "PLATE,DESIGNATION" I'd never guess. "Shift" and "Gear Shift" I searched for in 24P-1 and it didn't come up for some reason, but using the part (not NSN) number there it was, and soon will be gracing my very own "GROUP 0803 GEAR...
To the left of the transfer case shift lever on the left is a riveted silk-screened aluminum indicator plate marked H/L H N L ( I think, it's VERY worn and the operator's manual shows what should be there).
I've dug around the parts books, 24P-1, 2, 3 and several of the usual parts sites and am...
PS Magazine. Man, it's been a long time.
I'd gone to that site once and couldn't quite figure out how to navigate it, I'll give it another try.
Meanwhile, I hope you didn't lose any sleep over this (sounds like you did).
Thank you, a lot.

PM Magazine? Your google-fu must be superior to my training, master, I can't find anything of the sort.
You wouldn't happen to have that cartoon handy, would you?

A new set of glowplugs did the job for ME. Cranks FAST, but have only tested at 38 to 45 degrees F. Going to get a little colder this week and I'll see if the cold advance is working below 35 degrees.
So much information... I just saw an army cartoon to that effect "Your HMMWV doesn't get...
Backup lights? these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WE47ZUI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
10 watts each, ALMOST have a control box rigged. It's my NEXT big project. I think. Would be nice to have backup lights, fog, driving light (a two-in-one bar that'll mount on the...
Replaced steering column. Tied up some wiring, installed a charging port.
Why? I'd been told there WAS no "slotted tab" design on these steering colums, but that's what's in mine. Was. Broken. Broken aluminum insert, broken "hook" on the tab. I actually came across a picture of this style...
Well, it's like this...
Steering column was one of the originals with the little aluminum tabs that fit into slots. Over time those tabs and "hook" part of the slot broke off.
I'd posted a picture or two somewhere here months back and was told there WERE no slotted columns. I'll post a photo...
I called the MVA in Glen Burnie about this, spoke with a specialist and she said just file the title as it read. SIX digits. Never even had to get it inspected under historic use (I can always upgrade when I finally get the backup lights wired in if I lose my mind or win the lottery, it's like...
