What Guy and myself are doing is to make readable electronic copies of the wiring diagrams and wire lists for maintenance and repair purposes. Having a printed copy is absolutely handy. What we want to end up with is a nice clean set of electronic files to go with the TMs.
For sure take care if you do a live voltage test on the regulator. Having an isolated variable transformer is an excellent idea.
Keep us posted on the progress.
I learned the same lesson but with a MEP003. The only thing that would put it over its head was the heating coils on the heat pump.
So.. Now I have a fleet of various sized generators so I can match the source with the load. Yea, Its a sickness.
The house ground/wiring is also something to discuss with the inspector. It can be a Pandoras box because when you start fixing something you can be required to bring it ALL up to code if you aren't mindful. Before you start anything you should do a complete evaluation of your system and look...
You can see per the code reference below in Exception 1 that the existing 3 wire setups are OK if they complied with the code at the time of install (as I stated earlier). This however is NOT a licence to continue installing 3 wire systems. They no longer meet code. Since the OP has a panel at...
Well, you have a bit of a problem. The current code doesn't allow for a 3 wire system BUT you have a legacy system which is a 3 wire system. It isn't wrong if it met the code when it was installed. What I can say is it would not pass as a new installation today. You are not required to bring it...
I wish they came in a 48v version since I have a Xantrex 6048 that I'll be putting in service with a 16kw lithium battery setup.
I'll be using my MEP831 for battery charging when the sun isn't shining (and the utility is out).
+1 on downloading the full set.
What kind of maintenance are you doing? If you take a quick look at the manuals the cover pages will point you in the right direction.
That is not correct. With a 4 wire setup the ground and neutral are extended from the main panel. The chassis is grounded through the ground lug and connected to the ground rod at the main panel via the ground wire.
Per code if you are wired up with a 4-wire setup and the neutral is bonded in the main panel at the service entrance, you need to remove the bonding jumper at the generator.
You should run it at full RPM at all times.
Load will only be applied via the output terminals. There is no way to load it internally. Its best to rent/borrow/build a load bank to give it a good workout before you need to use it in true emergency conditions.
