    From fire truck to MTV

Had a few arrivals today! Went to a local place looking for a shipping container and the guy happened to already have one fully insulated floor included, with 2 in of closed cell spray foam. Also did a really nice job installing a sliding door. Was planning on doing the insulation myself but...

    From fire truck to MTV

Did the "listen test" per the TM (during inflate, with the gear hub fill plug off, listen for air leak) for CTIS hub seal leaks, found one on driver right front. Actually went pretty well that's to some YouTube videos. Didn't shim gears since my ECO hubs should be arriving today!

    From fire truck to MTV

I guess someone thought CTIS bolts are supposed to be torqued like wheel nuts. This filled the stud threads and was able to get most of it out but wouldn't take a bolt smoothly. Verified the bolt size is 3/8 NPS -national pipe straight (basically the same as 3/8 NPT-national pipe taper, except a...

    M1078 cracked block

Shouldn't be too thirsty as I drive the thing every couple days, battery voltage was showing what it normally does per the inaccurate gauges. So there's not some kind of interlock for the air inlet heater? I haven't looked into how much current that thing draws but since I have a 100 amp...

Hmm interesting, came with a 4x group 24 flooded lead acid setup

    M1078 cracked block

I was noticing something on my a1r about alternator, while the air inlet heater was on, it was not charging (orange lights flashing on regulator). When the heater turned off it engaged the alternator.

Well, look like Ford Transit seats will fit perfectly. Just have to work out the mounting mechanism.

I'm fine with it, I wouldn't want a "fancy" paint job like on a show vehicle though. Color matches perfectly to Rustoleum camo in the can from Walmart so tough ups are very easy.

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

It's states in the spicer manual troubleshooting this error, if the relief pressure is "within 1 PSI". Of course who knows what the true target is and also the allowable variance.

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

Found out that the sensor is reading correctly. So I took apart the relief valve put in a slightly larger o-ring that seals on the surface a little better it seems, and also burned off the adhesive on the adjuster screw and tightened it up a bit to add more spring pressure. Now I'm getting a...

    From fire truck to MTV

Well my title and registration finally came through after two nail-biting months of waiting on the WI DMV. Did lots of research reading WI laws but seems some people still have problems registering and titling so it was a big unknown. For the past few months I've been fixing things as I had...

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

Tried tonight but there is a pressure spike that was blowing the hose off so I need to change the setup a little to take that spike. I did push on the relief valve to increase the pressure and the quick release started making a very loud whistle. Can't imagine that is correct.

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

Yes I've rebuilt them all now. Fair amount of corrosion although it completely came off with a brass wire wheel, but all filters looked pristine. Did the soapy spray and no apparent leaks now.

Big IF is if the pressure sensor is accurate.

    CTIS...soo close to working properly

Haven't found any actual manufacturer specs on the pressure sensor. So I picked up a Dearborn interface. Pretty nice software that Spicer made for the CTIS. Atmospheric pressure is reading 14.0 and it should be reading about 14.6 per my location. On deflation is reading about 5.5 PSI and it...

Manual pump pushing the fluid to air/oil pump

How do I take apart the pump seals? I've se n the ones with a hex and those can be spun off. With the circular top fitting I can't figure out how to get it off. It spins but doesn't unthread

Manual pump pushing the fluid to air/oil pump

Hand pump is not pushing any fluid out return port, return line is sending fluid to pump. There was significant restriction blowing into the return port. It appears on the bottom of the direction selector there is a very small orifice fluid has to pass through. I removed this and replaced the...

Check engine light came on while pulling a hill under full throttle

Let off the throttle and the light went off. Since these motors are so pricey I decided to get a reader, bought a surplus ICE test kit. After fighting with scratched DVDs and old computer hardware I got : 102-07 "Boost Pressure Sensor Not Responding" A quick search indicated a boost pressure...

Educate me on talking to wabco ABS

I can talk to engine ecm, transmission tcu, Spicer CTIS. Wabco ABS seems to be a little different? Using Dearborn 3+ and can seem to connect over J1708 but wabco software doesn't really show much data, most fields are blank. J1939 doesn't seem to work at all. This is through the port to the...
