A little update on this thread..
While looking for a replacement truck, the VFD found out a neighboring town had one in storage that hadn't run for 3 years. Upon inspection they found it was an M54A1! They got the OK from the town and the DNR and secured the truck. I found the IP had a stuck...
Yes, he has quite a collection of vehicles, but said he wasn't really into it as heavy as his father as far as displaying them. Said he had recently sold a WLA, I have to get one someday!
My engine valley was loaded with crap when the truck was delivered as well, and the drain tube was plugged solid. It's obvious that water sat in there for a long time covering the mechanical advance plunger. So far there's no leak or sticking of the plunger, I'll bet the threads on the lower two...
Yes, the lip should be the other direction so pressure expands it, the only one facing the rod end is the wiper (4). Also a good idea to put red loctite on the piston bolt.
Found some 6T to group 34 Optima adaptor bases, and installed red tops with a NOCO 5X2 charger. I originally bought the NOCO to extend the life of my Hawkers since one was failing and always low, but I'll leave it in there for the occasional balancing charge. I've had a pair of 34 Optima red...
Looks great! I was planning on spraying my '52 green this summer, but I decided to call my existing paint "faded strata blue" , and numbered it as an Air Force truck for now. I don't think I'll bother taking the incomplete Jeep or my Humvee to the MVPA convention, but I'll be there.
I'm pretty sure you can pick "regular" for registration type, you'll just fill out the ex mil compliance form (411187) and pick your tonnage, DOT here seems to put them in the same category as a class 6 truck even though they're not. I can't imagine arguing the reduced GVWR tonnage vs data plate...
No more work on this one, they decided to look for a different truck and are searching all the available ones in the program. They had an M1083 for awhile with a smaller tank and turned it back in, that leaves an M818 with a Deuce bed and an M1008 for brush trucks now. The A1 also has 8 bald 40...
No, it wouldn't be that hard at all, but I can see the piston is trashed. I'm a Deere diesel mechanic by day and I know how these end up... I'll just keep getting in deeper and deeper and then have to put it all back together when they don't want to do it right so they can turn it back in to the...
I went to the local fire department to check out an engine noise complaint on their M52A1 brush truck, it has a Deuce bed on it with a water tank. The truck wouldn't even turn over when I got there, it could be barred over about 90° either way, but then stopped solid. I was hoping for a simple...
The cheapest commercial DOT 5 I've found is Johnsen's on Rock Auto at $8.63/ 12 oz. The bottle says it exceeds MIL-PRF-46176B spec, and it's made in Texas. I bought 2 cases and had it in 2 days.
That should be a good one.
I use John Deere HD lithium complex #TY24416. Not sure if they send the same stuff over there, but there's a dealer in Kemble.
State Farm did similar for mine, but added one "X". They said their system was confused by the lack of a letter. The treasurer's office was fine with 6 digits for the registration.
Someone left this nearly full can of "CF-3202 Maintenance Tan" in my recent purchase (after they painted over the unit markings with it I assume). I had never heard of CFI before, it's a good match to Rapco.
I also discovered that scrubbing the old yellowed chalky tan CARC on the Humvee with...
My 2006 M1097R1 is through State Farm. She said the biggest problem wasn't the lack of 17 digits, but the lack of any letter in the 6 digits. She added an "X" and I got full coverage with a $15,000 declared value for $360 per year.
