My deuce was shipped back from Kuwait?

That's cool! The SGM that signed my Deuce out was at its Guard base in '03 & he said all their tan trucks (mine included) were painted in '03 & trucked to California for shipping. They never shipped, and were returned to Iowa in '04 according to him.

    Does anyone double-clutch?

There's no advantage to double clutching a synchro transmission if its working properly, you're just putting needless cycles on parts Shifting a synchro trans. without clutching is not a good practice. The small teeth of the synchros dont provide a good feel to the operator & those parts are...

Motor City Motors - another Deuce on TV

I'm a tech at a Deere dealership, we have lots of customers with all their field operations running autosteer on an RTK signal- sub inch accuracy. They've gotten so spoiled that if the system breaks, they refuse to work until its fixed. That poor truck!

    alternator adjust

Yes, clockwise to increase. Mine was putting out 31.5 when the dash gauge was on the mark, now at 28.5 its right on the line between yellow & green.

    Air Compressor Question

Its typical of a single cylinder compressor, overtightening the belt will only cause problems.

    Deuce manifold heater

On certain codes of pumps, (B,C, D & E I think) The heater pump is supplied by the electric pump from the suction side of the gear pump & never gets gear pump pressure. There is a check valve in the gear pump that allows electric pump pressure to bypass the GP internally to fill the system...

    Where does your deuce live?

Right next to the shed just behind where it's sitting in this pic. Have a tarp to cover the cab & front for the winter.

    Deuce Door Locks?

I bought the L shaped garage door replacement from Grainger. The bolt pattern was WAY off, no way to make them work. I just lock the door with a broomstick through the rear window. Steering, e-brake & battery switch are all locked with padlocks- the door just keeps the kids out :-D

    Run do NOT walk!!

Works fine as long as the ass end of the truck stays on the ground. I would block under the tail for sure. When we get new John Deere combines in at the dealership we just put the wheels on & drive 'em right off the side of the lowboy trailers most of the time. Looks spooky as hell, but it's...

    Heater mounting

I've seen another with the air intake re-cut in the side panel directly in line with the hole in the housing. Sure made the hose fold up nicely.

    Heater mounting

I found this picture today, never seen one mounted this way. I guess with the bleed valve where it is this makes sense, but is it common?

    Fuel injectors, 1 or 2 hole ?

OK lets drag a 3 year old thread back to life:wink: I pulled my injectors (LDT) to test & found they had one-hole nozzles. The multi troubleshooting TM for the LDS said if the injectors were found to have one-hole nozzles, this condition must be corrected by installing two-hole as per a...

    3 push start

Is that charge relief or check valve piston supposed to have a small hole through the middle of it? Mine has about a .030" hole.

    Well I got my Deuce

Nice score!! The trailer contents would have never made it through a stay at most GL locations. Enjoy!

    3 push start

Mine does the same thing. Runs great, plenty of power, good idle, but I have to give it some pedal to get it fired & then it stumbles for about 2 seconds & comes to life. Ive got no air pulling in through the manifold heater injector, good lift pump, free relief valve, etc. I did find the...

    Broke the brakes.........yikes!

I know the feeling. I lost a line on a single circuit sysytem on my old Jeep FC170 going down a hill towards an intersection. I picked a spot in the ditch to drive into, but by the time I got to the intersection it was clear & rolled through.

    FDC bypass info (yes, again)

Glad I read this, now I know why I have to give some throttle to get mine running. It runs great, but just stumbles at around 500 rpm 3 or 4 seconds before coming to life. My FDC was bypassed by Uncle Sam & they left the plastic line on there & looped it back into the T. I think I'll remove...

    General Tire Temperature Question

My front tires get hot, rears stay cool all at 50psi. Hubs are the reverse, fronts cool & rears warm. None of my brake drums are ever hot running the flat ground around Iowa. Rule of thumb for bearings is max of 50 degrees above ambient temp is acceptable.

    Civilian Wipers

Nice job! Your stock one looks different from mine, which had the adaptor for the junk stock blade held onto a disk with a screw. I just had to grind off the little disk & narrow the flat a bit, then an 11 inch standard "bayonette"mount blade screwed right on. A little tweak of the arm for...
