My CUCV mechanic buddy told me the same thing - bypass the 24v to 12v step-down resistor and run straight 12v to the glo-plug solenoid...
For a point of reference, I just changed the glo-plugs in my 1986 M1009 and 6 of 8 of them were burned out with one tip slightly swollen (it came out...
Very nice...
That is a sweet 09 and neat it has so much commo gear in it.
I'm crossing your tracks now in that I have two M1009s and looking to buy a M1008...:D
Yep, thanks for sharing those videos! Brings back old memories... (good ones driving the 'Goat)... :-D
I remember "snatching" 2nd and 3rd and the front end would jump up like it was ready to do a "wheelie"...
That three cylinder Detroit diesel was a good match for the 'Goat...
I was a 'Goat driver back on the 70s at Ft. Campbell (M-102 howitzer battery) and I could peg the speedo at 60-65 mph level ground and saw 70 mph downhill.
Not able to help with ideas but wanted to tell the group a 'Goat could move out pretty quick...
"-What is the cheapest price you have seen for a Goodyear Wrangler AT?"
I wanted those tires too, but too much $$$...
I bought Firestone Destination A/T OWT 31/10.5R15 C109R for $140.99 list and after 10% military discount, paid $125.90 ea at Expert Tire... After fees and taxes, cost me...
Thanks for the reply and pics camogriz (your gauges look good in that spot!)
I did x-ref the seller's part number and it matches a proper HMMWV temp gauge - just got to x-ref the proper sender...
Glad to know someone has "been there, done that" regarding a military water temp gauge retrofit...
I just bought the last two he had listed:
NEW MILITARY HUMVEE TEMPERATURE GAUGE PN 12338473 | eBay
Hope no one "has a cow" for posting that link...
One outfit sells temp sensors for 6.5s, but not sure if they work with military gauges...???
I searched the CUCV forums for "water temperature gauge" installs and found 7 postings. They all dealt with civilian water temp gauge installs.
Someone on eBay is selling NOS HMMWV water temp gauges cheap. I'd like to install one next to my volt meter, but not sure if the gauge is 12 or 24...
1AE 174 BDE is
First Army, Division East (higher HQs to) 174 Infantry Brigade and sister brigade to ranchhopper's 177 Armored Brigade CUCV.
Both brigades are training brigades and composed of active duty, AGR and mobilized USAR Soldiers who provide pre and post mobilization training...
Here's my "radiator" story Wreckerman...
In 2000 after I got my M1009 back from IL (and after drinking a 12 pack with the little lady), I tell her: "Let's go four-wheeling". She climbs in and I proceed to drive into my field knocking down 1-3" dia trees. My CUCV knocked everything down except...
Wow, never saw glass guards like those! Looks like you could drive thru LA (in Kali) and the "brick-throwers" couldn't bust out your glass...
Reminds me of the Strykers with the RPG bird cages.
Pls tell us more about those glass guards...
I bid $2700 on a 1985 M1008 w/ bows, side boards, troop seats and folded canvas at Redstone; but let it go after the 15 min overtime kicked in and the other bidder got it for $2800...
I was interested in it because of the above, but maybe another one will show up for auction later...
