Looking to replace a cracked grille on my '84 M1009. It looks like LMC now offeres replacement grilles for the '84 with the chevy logo, etc. The part number form LMC is 38-4156 for the single headlight version, but it almost looks like the dual headlight version is a better match. Has anyone...
That's what I'd like to protect for. Being an Arizona truck it has next to no rust on it. However when we are going along trails that are a bit overgrown the trees really tear into things. From my experience the CARC has held up well to this and comes out unscathed. My main concern is some of...
Hi Guys,
I have an M1009 and an M116A3 that need paint. They both get worked pretty heavily off-road so I would like to paint them with carc or something that stands up as well. Is there a good source for buying current milspec paint? I'd like to keep it brake fluid resistant, etc.
Hi Guys,
Looking at an Mep-803a coming up for auction on gov liquidation. I haven't bought from the auction site before or have much info on the genset. How are they for reliability and parts availability? Anything special I need to know about bidding on them on gov liquidation? Fees, forms, etc?
Here is a writeup I did for making the pioneer / ATP cable work. It works fine if you cut the end as shown so it can fully return to idle position. This is what I am running and haven't had a problem yet...
Its usually only driven in the summer here when its about 100* out. Whats the issue (other than burning out the other plugs) with worn out glow plugs? It usually starts in 2-3 seconds.
Well since I have owned my CUCV I have always suspected something was a little funky with the motor. It has a tick on the drivers side of the intake when the air filter is off and when you have ear plugs in you can hear there is more clatter at the drivers side valve cover than the passenger...
What's a fair price for a service body with about 80k miles in decent condition? Has the gen set and compressor. Seems likes the value of cucv's have gone up quite a bit since I bought my 1009 in 2010.
Thanks, do you happen to know what the stock drive and driven gear colors are? I can't look at the truck as it is 15 hours away and I want to be able to just throw the parts in when I'm back for a few days over the holiday.
My m1009 has been off by about 20MPH for the last 4 years which I don't really mind other than the odometer artificially skyrocketing. I'm running 4.10 gears and 36in tires. I've heard there is a converter box on the M1009 that changes the speedo ratio as well as the gears in the T case. Do I...
ATP Y270 is pretty similar to the Pioneer cable, too short on the engine side. Works ok if you cut the crimp indicated in the pictures below off :| . I wonder if we get enough people to contact ATP or Pioneer if they will adjust it. I know the one they used to make 4 years ago worked fine.
I had no luck with the Pioneer cable also. Took a look at my buddies '84 K10 diesel and that cable matches the CUCV so that pioneer cable doesn't look like it will work for either 6.2 diesel application. I sent pioneer a message as well to see if they can take another look at it and get it...
Did you ever hear back from pioneer? Having the same issue with the pioneer cables from the parts houses. I bough one from the same oriely (was checkers) 4 years ago and it was a perfect fit.
Gotcha, I guess I should have realized that since its is 21.5:1 compression. If it helps any it also seems to have more black/grey smoke out the drivers pipe when it does it.
I was thinking more along the lines of the valve not opening or sticking part of the way open and not hitting the piston. The whole truck only has 58,000miles on it so I would hope its not a bad lifter. It has a 1.5 year old injection pump, but it could be an injector I guess. Oh and the fuel...
Thats very true...ill have to do that next time im back there. Hopefully the intermittent nature of it wont just give me false good numbers on a compression test. I also hadn't ever head of compression being forced up the injectors.
