The new version of the Coot Was known a the Coot Two (or Coot2). It had an engine driven hydraulic pump and independent hydraulic motor driving each wheel.
The Coot with stock tires has a ground clearance of 11". R3Fabis right about the problems in deep snow: If you drive through stuff that's too deep, so it piles up under the belly, it will just lift your wheels rght off the ground.
On the other hand, the smooth belly meant that it would slide...
Fusion 360 has a free version. Just download the full version and register as a startup/enthusiast. It's a full-blown 3D cad program and takes a bit of dong to learn, but there are some great tutorials out there.
Sketchup also has a free version. This used to be Google Sketchup, but they spun...
What tire pressure are folks running if you are using 11.00R16 tires? I have some old Michelin 11.00R16 XL tires that came with my truck. The previous owner said he ran 35 PSI, yet when I picked up the truck from him, the tires were at 50 PSI . I ran them for a while like that, and am now trying...
See Vintage Power Wagon. Look in their online catalog, Electrical section. Electrical starts with page 31. Look on page 33, middle column. New 24V ignition switch for vehicle type E, F. (They refer to M37 trucks as "Vehicle type E" in their catalog.)
The also sell the knobs and the placard.
By "on switch" Are you referring to the battery disconnect switch, or do you mean the ignition switch?
VPW has ignition switches. I've never checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had battery disconnect switch is also.
As a temporary measure, you can get by with a simple toggle switch in...
has anyone head from @minnhawk ? I responded here 6 days ago, and in a private message that I was interested in the harness, but have not heard back from him.
As mentioned in my original post: I have 11.00x16 tires, it's likely I'll need a substantial drop from the receiver to get the right height for my 2" ball hitch trailers. I'm not interested in putting that kind of twisting moment on my rear crossmember when towing. This means either reinforcing...
Just did an oil change and cleaned out the air filter and replaced the filter oil in mine yesterday. First oil change since I bought it last September. I had been meaning to get to it earlier, but just hadn't found the time. I was not particularly worried, since th eprevious owner changed the...
I read somewhere that the aftermarket coils are often just a bit too short, so they don't make good contact to conduct the heat away. One fix some people use with some success is to put a metal disc in the bottom to help take up the space (the recommendations I saw were to coat the disk in some...
My passenger seat has a pin near each front corner that seats into a hole to hold the seat bottom from sliding around. I can't remember whether it's the frame with the pins and the seat with the holes, or the other way around. If you need a picture, I can snap one and post it.
Vintage Power Wagons sells a locking door handle that will fit an M37 (VPW refers to the M37 as a "type E" vehicle in their catalog).
The link is to the "Group18: Body" section of their online catalog. Scroll down a few pages (to the page numbered 85), and look near the upper right of that page...
I just turned off my ad blocker for this site. That way, I don't get the pop-up. I just ignore the adds - not that big a deal to scroll right past them.
Lubricants have changed dramatically (improved) since the tech manuals came out. There seems to be a debate between the originaly recommended lubes and more modern ones. I have 10W-30 non-synthetic in my engine and an 80 or 90 weight gear oil in the transmission, be cause that is what was in it...
As someone living in a rural area with a slow internet connection, I sometimes dread the threads with multiple hi-rez photos - especialy when the kids are home using up most of our bandwidth. If I can, I make do with viewing the thumbnail photos.
