I'm heading to 54Reo's in a couple weeks to swap the 16.00x20's for 11.00x20's. The truck is too light for those big tires on the highway. Offroad they would be the grail, but 99% of what I do is on pavement at 40MPH or better. ass-u-me ing this works out, I'll bring the beast out. Yall say a...
That is a good price if it's a legit offer and if it works. If it does not work there are a couple guys whoi can repair them but be prepared to pay for professional work.
I found these documents and also took some notes, maybe it can help. I'm sorry if there are repetitions. The grail is at about 0.75 for the 5T truck. In some cases and I am not sure which, the OD ratio for the aux transmission depends on the -A, -B, etc. designation if any.- it looks like the...
A thought about the rears there. I see the center sections are removed, but if you left one in, you could belt it to an automotive alternator and keep a couple of 12V batteries charged. That and a solar panel if you like, but the idea is that whever you got where you wanted , the batts would be...
Somehow today I closed the door on the truck and the result is that the outsude handle is cocked to the rear and won't move. I did not try forcing it. The inside handle moves but will not open the door. I don't know what happened, this is the drivers door and sure to be an extreme annoyance. Has...
5 ton transmission is the Dana (Spicer) 6453 (I was curious and looked it up). I wonder now if any better OD were avail on the 6000 series, maybe not, but following is a list off an attributed Hemmings article, fair use.,
7. TRANSMISSION

So, is the OP, reallybigboat still around and what ever became of this proposal?
Helloooo! did it work out? what do you have now? Hope you are still with us.
thanks, mod.
the one described in the first post is likely not the model series described (shown) in the table on that website - -those are apparently for smaller trucks?? -note the torque figures.
Mine passed right under it and developed a tiny leak from rubbing. The constant hissing was very annoying to some people because they would always mention it and tell me to check the radiator.
Since I got to go with 'normal' tires, it is a very attractive idea. Please do check, if you are conveniently at Coleman's. I was at Clark's in 2006 and didn't notice anything like that but time goes on..
While we wait for them pictures..
Anyone ever put an aux transmission on an M818? It might just fit and the job could be simpler, not moving the transfer, and using the overdrive only on the highway along with the 'front=neutral' shift mod for the transfer.
The rear shaft would be a little...
If it starts and runs so well, and is in really good shape with little rust at all, and really needs 'nothing' it is a lot of truck for the money. Make your best deal, go with cash and make an offer.
