This is a very interesting thread. Great info. Just curious also if the actual pointer was checked to see if it was set right. I assume they are all set at the factory and not in a standard location. One would assume they should be set perfectly but with how accurate they need to be you never...
Ahh great to hear that all worked out for you. Mc-master carr is awesome. They have everything to do everything you ever wanted to do. They are bound to have one if you lose it.
90 shipped is not a bad deal. If i had bad gauges i would buy these from you no problem. I do think it would take you some time to sell all of them though. If you dont mind sittin on them a bit then go or it
I am having a bunch ordered from onanparts.com. The guys name is tom. You need to send him an email
since he doesnt stock them. he can get about anything and the prices are great. There is a thick gasket and also a copper insulator gasket. You need both. You can prob get them from sears parts...
Well I don't know how original you are looking for but there are a few things you can do. I have remade all the data plates on the mep-003 and 002a. I took the more high tech route and scanned or photographed the old plates and then redesigned them on the computer. Once I have the computer file...
yeah at $90 your cost for the gauges thats a tough one to swallow to be able to make your money back. the simpson hz meter i think is about $170 and looks original with the transducer all built in. thats alot less than $4500 for 50 gauges x 3 no less. thats alot of gauges to sell to recover the...
thats what im forgetting. the timing button. i put an arrow on your pic. there is a small retaining ring there holding the timing button in. take a pick or small screwdriver and remove that ring. the timing button will come out and you will see the end of the plunger shaft. there is another...
hmmm, when that drive washer is broken the plunger shaft should just fall out of the main gear then the spring and retainer and whatever else should just fall off with it... i think. like i said im going off memory but i know for sure i didnt need any tools to take anything apart when my washer...
now its been a little bit since i had mine apart but if i remember correctly if the drive washer is broken like your the pump will come right apart. you dont need the tool. the tool will be needed when you reassemble though since you will be replacing with a new drive washer. when i put mine...
Oh boy. There was another 002 that i was looking at picking up last weekend aling with the other two but the guy backed out and was selling it to someone else. I just got a text from him that his buyer backed out. It appears im gonna have a third project now. Gonna go pick it up in a couple days.
wow kinda crazy that would just let loose all of a sudden like that. wonder how hard it is to find the gears and other parts? do plan on repairing it or just scrapping the thing?
ahh, drive washer. the bowtie. the center hole that turns the plunger is "D" shaped. if that is what the op is talking about then yes no dot on that lol. i agree with the running it too. if everyone remembers even after i went completely through mine i had all sorts of strange stuff goin on when...
here is a pic of my broken one.
i dont see the dot on mine here so its on the other side but it is there and should be on all of them as jerry said. somewhere in the manual it shows the dot and which way it needs to be when you reassemble. im not even saying this is your problem. i just...
Not sure what effect it will have but when you put the plunger guide on the plunger shaft, there was a dot in one side. That dot needs to be facing a certain direction.
