I don't think anything is wrong- I was clued in to this possibility by a friend. He said he was surfing the net for deuce info and found something (he thought it was Wikipedia), that stated that deuce alternators made after 1980 had dual voltage capability. I was unable to find what he was...
I recently discovered there is a terminal on the alternator of my A2 deuce that puts out 14 volts. It is next to the 28 volt terminal that is connected to the starter solenoid.
Does anybody know what it's for and can it be used to supply 12 volts to accessories like CB radio, cell phone...
Your project looks great! I've been finishing wood for over 20 years and you'll find that cherry darkens wildly with UV exposure. Film finishes like poly lay on the surface of the wood instead of soaking in. In the Az sun it doesn't last more than about a summer before it starts to turn white...
Thanks Phil! You're right- great explanation.
I did some reading and some people claim that lockers make tire scrubbing in turns worse- also that lockers can cause under steer and other problems when coming out of a turn, especially on snow & ice. I thought lockers would improve these problems- no?
Would somebody please explain what these "lockers" do? How many do you need for a deuce? Are they different from the front axle lock-out hubs?
Thanks! :-)
Do you know what the OP needs to do to fix the problem? I would be interested also.
I painted my deuce with Gillespie forest green semi-gloss and used Rustoleum in a rattle can to stencil on the lettering. No problems with that.
The Grote part # is 76283 for the 24v rotating beacon with 2 sealed beam lamps. There are a few places on-line that carry them from about $95 to $150.
Another option is the Whelen RB6P- same size housing but has a large reflector that rotates around a halogen bulb. Very bright- there's a video...
Are these beacons anything like the ones on the 2.5 ton convoy lights? If so, Grote makes a 24 volt rotating amber beacon (just like the discontinued Federal beacon). Available on Amazon and a few other on-line vendors for about $100.
Jeepsinker- sorry to hear about your accident. I hope all goes well and you recover quickly.
I witnessed 2 accidental discharges (at the police academy during advanced officer training no less) and I know getting shot is no laughing matter.
Stay safe my friend.
Mark
I have to agree that searching usually brings up lots of irrelevant information which is difficult, especially for new members to wade through. Giving someone enough information to search successfully is always a good thing!
