I tried to find a vin on my M656 where it was supposedly located and I only found smooth right front frame rail. Good luck with parts, they were almost all scrapped for the aluminum bodies, plus they didn't make very many.
For limited backing you need to lock the steering. You end up pushing it around a bit but it is fine unloaded. I don't know about the length of your wheelbase but it tracks perfectly behind the truck it was made for, the HEMTT.
Do NOT use the choke! Did you get all the water out of the engine? I have to check how many I have, I still have a Stalwart. Yup, that was one of mine, I still have the import paperwork and Washington State Title.
You probably bought one of the ones I GAVE AWAY last year. Did you buy the one on CL? If so you need a lot more than a few parts! I dont have carb rebuild kits, only new carbs.
He sold it in July of 2009, it was his idea to sell and he put it on eBay. He was burnt out (understandably) with the project, but it got him through a divorce.
I've done it with a Deuce and the other guy paid for fuel and he and I traded hours of labor, thus avoiding the "commercial" problems. I hauled his vehicle, he helped me with moving tank parts. Although I COULD tow an M54, I have a very busy August ahead of me and the trailer has a 14,000 load...
He could but I believe you'll fall over at the price. I don't remember exactly but it was north of $7,000. They are EXACTLY the same as the steel ones and a lot went into making them. Steel would have been less expensive but I didn't want the pockets to start rusting and there are always...
Looks to be coming along nicely, and I thought a HEMTT had a lot of shafts, bearings and u-joints in the steering. Looks pretty tidy and as simple as possible. Not that forward control is simple at all, especially from scratch. Saying that I need to go back and look at Jones...
There are several problems with remote mounting. One, your turbo lag would be quite severe. Unless you wrap the exhaust with a good thermal material, the heat loss would result in less energy to drive the turbo. You'd need to run a separate electric oil scavenge pump to pump the oil from the...
There isn't any remaining fluid pressure in the system, the truck hasn't run for 5 months. I have on occasion followed all the linkages and I ALMOST responded without going out to the truck. Since it was you, I went out to the garage and did it anyway. There IS a mechanical connection in MY...
What you talking about Willis? HEMTT's do indeed have a mechanical linkage, I just walked out to the garage and turned the steering wheel on my truck and the tires turned a bit. Is it stiff, YUP, but you do have some control without hydraulics.
