Ghostdriver sent me for some cheap batteries for her M43 when she decided to start her restoration. I went to our local Interstate Battery warehouse where we have an account, and discovered they had a raging sale on some group 27's. They were the cheapest batterys available. Those 24 volt look...
It depends on how "stock" you want to be. Because the stock batteries were insanely expensive and very difficult to find when I first got my M37 I opted to go as cheaply as possible with a pair of group 24 chevy style batteries. The hold downs do not fit, but the 24 batteries will fit in the box...
plowboy,
The diverter box shown in the earlier photos (loose in the bed and by itself on the fire wall) looks like the diverter box used on an M37. This last set of photos (heater core mounted on the inner firewall) is different and very interesting. It does look like a "factory" set up...
We understand the accumulation process. They just seem to enjoy having company. I got my M37 back in 1963 and within a week my sis and brother in law got theirs. Then we found some parts trucks that just wandered in and then my son got old enough to go out and buy himself one becaused he liked...
Interesting how different the M989 is from the M989a1. Same rated capacity and load purpose, but M989a1 is set up wagon style with steering front wheels and the M989 has a rigid drawbar with the wheels centered under the load. I wonder what the deck height differences are?
Sounds like the same lot even. I was at Ft. Carson GL yesterday and they still had two unclaimed M989a1's as of 2 pm. They sure look like new unused trailers to me.
That heater set up is like the one I saw on an M135 being surplused by the Wyoming Forest Service out of Cheyenne. They had an M35 gasser (Reo I think) that had the same heater set up. Like I said the diverter box on the inner fire wall looks the same as the one on my M37. I wonder if some of...
It is the base of a pipe vise welded to the bumper. The M220 is/was a "shop van" truck. I can't find that there was a pipe vise as a standard piece of equipment on the bumper and it does not seem logical for it to be in a vertical position unless it had a special application. We have found...
Plowboy,
Those fire wall mounted hot air distribution boxes looks like the same thing as on an M37. Your photos show one mounted on the inner firewall under the dash and one laying in a truck bed. On the M37, that assembly was plumbed to a gas fired heater mounted on the drivers side fender with...
Our M220 spent its life in Yuma AZ before we got it. No heater and defroster, but it has dual roof mounted AC's on the van body. Cab hard top is original. I have seen an engine coolant heater mounted on the driver's side just inside the fender panel on an Early Deuce Forest Service Fire truck. I...
I just logged into some different sites on GL in OK, KA, CO and I did not find any closed items. I tried Herlong CA and found some closed items still listed. I did not bid on anything in Herlong nor did I put anything there on my watch list (Never have bid on anything there.)
It would seem...
I noticed some GL auction listings are still visible, while others dropped from view at the end of the auction. I was checking my bids and final sale prices (the sold items were shown as closed with the final bid price) on those that were still visible and all of a sudden, they went away. ~~~...
Is that rain in Yuma???? Your front on photo looks good. The 6.2 appears to be a good candidate to fit in the engine pit. I think there are quite a few of us interested in the kind of performance this conversion will produce. ~~~ Your number crunching would seem to indicate the 6.2 is a good...
The 4bt Cummins used in some MV conversions usually uses the bell housing from a bread truck application so as to clear the steering gearboxes. This is most effective on M37's. What happens is the engine is rotated off the center line. It looks sort of like the slant head 6 that Dodge used for a...
Yes, that was one of the really high dollar trailers. We bid for a while on the M101a1's, but decided that was too much when all we wanted was a set of good 9.00x16 tires. We were trying to match a pair we already have. We bid the same way on the last lot of M101a1's at Carson, but again they...
I have seen M101a2's with bows and canvas go for $1250 not counting fees and tax. Every time I bid on 101's the auction is hot and they sell for around $600 with or without canvas. My son and I have deduced that is because there is no other source for 500 miles around us. That said, we have...
