He is not to far from the original Del Taco, now a hamburger stand with the old Del Taco sign in place. Lots of neat tires at his place and usually a bobbed deuce being fabricated. My son picked up some large tires to single out his deuce at a fair price (actually a better than fair price).
The in tank fuel filter is held in place by a machine screw (approx. 1/8 inch diamater) that pulls a bottom plate up against the filter screen pressing the filter screen to a top plate attached to the pickup tube. If you unbolt the filter and remove it, the pick up tube is in the same position...
Zout,
I think work is about to resume. Ghostdriver has finally found a couple of part time employees for her business. As soon as the "training" period is finished, I think she will have some time to devote to her M43. I can add that the engine rebuild gasket set has arrived as well as the...
Like Nick, my guess is that you have a "plain" M101. These would have been surpluss some time in the early to mid 60's most likely and were 50's vintage trailers. My guess is based on what looks like bolt holes for the early brake handles. The M101 series is really a tough little trailer. I have...
After studying your posted pics and comparing them to my trailer, I believe you have a "plain" M101. The wheels are the same as the Dodge's from that era. I am restoring a 1948 Dodge Power Wagon, the 101 I have is a 1952....Same brakes, same wheels, same hubs, etc. The data plate on mine says...
It sounds like the float needle and seat are bleeding over. Either the float is mal-adjusted or the float and/or the needle are sticking Or there is something in the seat keeping the needle from closing completely. Sometimes fuel pump pressure can be high enough to force the needle open, but...
As I recall, those keys are rounded on the ends. A chisel or punch can drive them loose, but you run the risk of needing replacement keys. You can take standard key stock and grind the ends to fit the pockets. If you are referring to the half moon keys, they can sometimes be rocked up on one end...
Shootist,
The radiator bracket comes out with the radiator attached. You don't have to drain fluids when it comes out as an assembly. However, you are going to tear the engine down anyway, so no advantage to keeping the power assembly together on the pull. I will see if I can find and electronic...
Shootist,
The cooling tube is key to water circulating properly in the engine. Without it, you get hot spots and cold spots (rear cylinders tend to run hot and yet, it is difficult to get hot water to a water style heater.) ~~ I prefer to pull the whole front clip to get to the engine. The...
Sooty plugs are a sign of running rich or poor spark. Besides fuel flow and spark, you might check for vacuum leaks. Higher RPM will usually mask a vacuum leak.
Correct. The second detent is the sealed position. The vent line moves along the frame rail with the fuel line and makes its way under the generator, up the side of the block and across to the air horn between the air cleaner and the carb. It is a small line and you are better off leaving the...
Variable spark (yellow then blue / short then long) is a sign of variable dwell. Could be distributor shaft bearing are worn and there is wobble which effectively changes gap/dwell. Could the exciter ring be loose enough to cause variations?
The in tank filter can bubble back into the tank...
The answer to the white paint is because that's the way it came from the Army. We have had the M220 just a little over two years now and we got it from GL out of Barstow CA. It got there from Yuma Proving Grounds about a year earlier. I don't know when exactly it was painted white, but it was...
I own a plain old M101. The clue is the tail light set up. The tail lights match the 50's vintage set up which had only one service stop lamp on the left rear. The right side is a black out marker light and black out stop light.
