I answered my first question myself. It is just a round hole in the bulkhead, not a keyhole.
I am attaching a photo. The tits I am refering to can be seen on the plastic form right at the point where the screw exits the form. My guess is that the holes for the screws in the bulkhead
are the...
I'll see what I can do, but I'm thinking that if you need pics, you wont have seen the
bulkhead in question with the slave kit removed. Who knows though, you guys are real
magicians when it comes to this stuff. Thanks!
I just got a slave kit off an M923. Acording to the TM
there is a gasket and a plastic form that fits over the
NATO slave casting. So you grab the casting with wires
attached, thread it thru the gasket, then the pastic form,
then thru the bulkhead, and finally thru a piece of sheet metal...
I did the above as per Marcus and I am glad I did. I found lots of little pieces of teflon
tape just waiting to jump in my IP. I highly recomend doing the mod this way with
the formagasket aviation sealant and NOT the teflon tape.
I am taking this man's advice and have ordered the peratex formagasket # 3 and I am going
to back out the fittings with the teflon tape and use the permatex. I really don't like the idea of teflon migrating to my IP.
Thanks Marcus!
I did this mod as well. Bought the head and filters from gimpyrobb.
I made one mistake when I put the cap back onto the top of the filter head.
Somehow I didn't get the o-ring in the right place. It started up fine the first time, but the next day it wouldn't start. I finally tracked down the...
Starter relay is under the dash in the middle. You need to replace this
with a heavy duty relay simiklar to the GPR relay. See the "doghead relay mod"
Someone will hopefully post a link to his mod.
M813rc is probably right. The shelter is sitting on an M390C trailer which is used
in the Hawk Missile system.
If you don't end up using those swivel things on the back and center front, I might be
interested in buying some of them if the price is right. They are heavy, so the freight may
kill...
Someone posted that a high tac grease should be used for king pins so that it would not pound out. This makes sense to me.
Thanks for the replies guys!
Bruce
Can someone recomend a high tac grease available
in cartriges for greasing king pins, etc.
I am stuck in bed for a bit and would like to order online, so when I recover I can deal with the front end.
Thanks for any help!
Bruce
Make a frame that will straddle the S250 and M1008 so that you can lock the
S250 to the top of the frame. Air down your tires and backup under the S250,
then air them back up and release the attachment locks. Then air down the tires
and scoot out followed by airing the tires back up.
Just an...
The money you spend now will mean that it is completely checked over and properly serviced.
Shipping spare parts can nickle and dime you to death.
Hope you have lots of fun with it, but just stay away from Cape York peninsula.
Bruce
That Is what I was guessing but didn't know the specifics. If the starter isn't turning
and you have voltage at the solenoid, then the solenoid probably isn't closing it's contacts.
I wouldn't think it had any thing to do with the IP if the starter isn't turning the flywheel.
I am guessing here, but bassed on another CUCV starter thread, it sounds like
you need to check the clearances and possibly add a shim. It would appear that the
starter is stuck in a way that wont allow the solenoid to operate properly.
