I believe the hood number was the Army registration number that was assigned to your truck. Should be the 5 digit number on the inside of door.
As far as size and color, there are threads on here that have vintage pics showing lots of trucks. Try the new Google search.
And this little filter will handle all the fuel that 6.2 will burn. How many miles before it plugs up enough to cause problems? A screen maybe but never a small filter.
Just speaking from experience.
I hope it makes it to the Ga rally! It would make a fine place to sleep just like it is. But I know you'll need another driver to get it there and back, sigh.
