When I went negative it was about MY OWN shortcomings in my ability to remain sane going 30 mph (that's assuming I'm sane now, which is debatable). I want to go in the worst way, not sure if I can make sure my truck is totally dependable for 7,000+ miles and it is a 1984 with 28,000 miles on...
I will rinse a Diesel engine but I've never started one, due mainly to the much higher bearing pressures. It might be safe, but I've never done more than pour Diesel through.
I have been known to pour some warm Diesel in the engine and then let it drain overnight. On gasoline engines, I've bought a second filter and filled to capacity with Diesel. I run at IDLE only for a couple of minutes, and let drain overnight. Change the filter again and fill with oil.
There is almost no tounge weight, therefore you will need a heavy truck to pull one. The draw bar isn't heavy enough to allow the towing vehicle to get added effort against the load. That's why I said my F450 wouldn't have a problem, it already weighs almost as much as the trailer. Plus I...
Thanks Dan! I'm not ready yet, the wiring isn't going to be difficult, just pulling wire through conduit. My garage is made out of structural insulated panels and rather than using the chases they have built into them, I'm just going to run my air and electrical over the sheetrock.
Re: metal...
I don't have room for a rally, my stuff takes up a lot of room and there is no street parking here. I'm space limited to about 2-3 Deuces until I tear my old garage down and get rid of some Stalwarts, then a rally might be possible.
Another issue is weight, the HEMTT rims will add more unsprung weight to your vehicle, not really a good thing. They were designed to survive over 14,000 lb. of load EACH in combat conditions as a super single. They are however, VERY nice rims!
That sir is my plan, to make mine foolproof. I'm not going to recommend one to anybody though. Relays, diodes and small circuit breaker SHOULD make one safe. Mine will only have to handle relay switching current. Plus I'll keep a 3 lever on board.
Looks like you ARE prepared! I thought it was 10AM last year but I'm probably mistaken. That sounds OK, then! I just was worried it'd go like the turbo change last year. Only enough room for one to work and a late start. Years ago, with air tools, I was able to remove an engine in my '82...
Guys, is there a reason we are starting so late? My wife has given me the "day off" but not the evening. I want to do this and get it done quickly, in case I'm needed on the home front. If we are prepared and get it done quickly, we will have plenty of time to chat and BS afterward. I'm just...
