Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

Agreed, in my experience once you get in that deep you may need to pull almost as much as the rig weighs. The front straight axle makes an excellent earth anchor. I stuck my H1 Hummer to the body in mud (OK a little deeper) and a 12,000 lb Warn was nearly maxed out pulling it free. It would...

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

I never try to use anything to it's maximum, when you do, it often results in breakage and/or injury. A 14,000 lb Deuce is not strong enough, frame wise, to be tackling such a task. Wreckers often have double and triple frames with winches to match. A Deuce's winch was made for self recovery...

Deuce vs. 79,800 lb rig: Fail

Buried that deep, I'm not even sure my 39,000 lb. HEMTT would get that out. With a Deuce I wouldn't have even tried.

    I like Marine Green myself.

How to fit 14.00r20's (and still have 6wd ;) )

I missed this tread before, good job as usual Matt!

Hawaii Museum of Military Vehicles HMMV M-113

I don't have a recent one. It is sleeping under a thin layer of sawdust between the V100 (80% sripped of paint) and a Alvis Stalwart with a Dingo in the load bay. I understand they only made about 20 383 Green Civy ones in 1993. They stopped because 3/4 of the people complained they...

Hawaii Museum of Military Vehicles HMMV M-113

Not to my knowledge did they do anything like that. I'm not at all impressed with any of the "stock" V100 turrets, in fact, I'd rather have none on mine and hence I just have a gun ring. I have been looking for a cool turret to purchase, or one I can copy and fab myself. A CVR(W) Fox turret...

Were you the group that sold that TOW missle head for $202.00 on eBay? If so, I wanted it in the worst way for my V100 but I couldn't risk getting screwed on shipping (not by you). NICE toys you got there!

No power EGT's up there HELP

Holy crud, there is most, if not ALL your problem! Time to pull the turbo and clean it. Walnut shells in a CLEAN abrasive blast cabnet would take care of that easily. No glass bead or sand particles allowed though, bad for the bearings. We used walnut shells in a FAA certified engine repair...

No power EGT's up there HELP

Take off the turbo inlet and see if you can deflect the blades and make them contact the housing. You shouldn't be able to. Also the turbo should turn smoothly by finger with a small bit of resistance. My guess if that it isn't a clogged air filter, the turbo has pooped the bed. :( High...

    New guy in Western WA

Welcome John! A Stalwart requires a certain amount of insanity and you must be a glutton for punishment. I know, I got 5 of them! :D Stuart Redmond, WA

They must be out of their minds...

Only as surplus, not from a Michelin dealer. They cost WAY more than that.

I just bought 8 new, never been on the ground and shrink-wrapped 16.00R20's for $250 each.

    HEMTT Update

One of our Steel Soldiers members bought it on eBay as a cannibalized mess, it was terrible and MUCH was missing. He spent 2.5 years and lots of money bringing it back from the dead. I bought it from him and we are just finishing it off. "Jones" above made all sorts of brackets and things for...

    HEMTT Update

Thanks Leonard, I had some 1/4" x 3" flat stock laying around and although I didn't follow the exact blueprint, I followed the intent. I doubled up the sides to look right, it didn't need the strength. The only real thing I had going for me is I ditched the 14" abrasive cutoff saw years ago...

Thanks, we are making every attempt to make it the best truck we can. Still a lot to do . . .

    HEMTT Update

You're not supposed to see that, it was my pre-wife/family toy that I haven't gotten rid of yet. I has to go away to help pay for restorations of all the rest, survival of the fittest you know ;) I'd sacrifice anything for my Scorpion and HEMTT, the same way my wife feels about her Fox...

    "Do not park in gear"

Nope, not unless you have a Detroit 2 stroke in your Deuce. A 4 stroke isn't going to run backwards.

Work on the baby HEMTT grinds to a start.

During our visit to the Jones family, I had my wife play "Japanese Tourist". She took tons of photos of both "Baby" and Leonard's children. His attention to detail is AMAZING. The front engine mount does as I recall triple duty, mounting engine, radiator and rear cab mount. It looks to be a...
