What is a HEMTT really worth?

$250,000 is crazy to me, but so are M3 & M5 Stuarts $ 150K. I had an appraisal done on my HEMTT for insurance purposes, I was hoping to get a number about what I paid, it came back a 20% higher than I had hoped.

What is a HEMTT really worth?

From our correspondence I know David to be a nice guy, from his many articles I believe he's well researched but those prices don't reflect reality.

What is a HEMTT really worth?

I don't know Bruce, I'm kinda liking the cargo version, it'll come in REAL handy for our 6 days of the Arlington Airshow 2010. My wife packs like we are staying for a month and we would fill an S250 shelter to the roof, not including 3-4 huge coolers that had to ride on the trailer. I think...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

the -2 engine put into the M656/M757/M791 trucks used a 22% bigger oil pump for piston cooling and I believe larger injectors and turbo, made anywhere from 50-75 more hp.

What is a HEMTT really worth?

Agreed above, what someone is willing to pay and the seller will accept. Damon and I found that magic number, we are still friends after the deal. And that one wasn't quite finished, we are working on that. Damon stopped short of rebuilding the sides as he liked it as a flat bed, we...

Has anyone put a gear vendor in their truck?

During EMP incident, even electronics that are not in use can be damaged but those items that are in use are at a higher risk. The problem is the chips that you are trying to protect are still connected to wires that receive the current.

Has anyone put a gear vendor in their truck?

Most of the GM applications I see have a sliding yoke.

Has anyone put a gear vendor in their truck?

I was wondering how long it'd take you guys to find out how expensive they are. The payback is in the MANY 10's of thousands of miles. You don't use them to save money unless it is your daily driver and you drive a LOT!

Preference: Air or electric trailer brakes?

Air or as I do on my MV hauler, electric/hydraulic disc brakes.

    Gun Truck armor info...

How about 1/4" aluminum, look robust but still light and easy to cut.

Has anyone put a gear vendor in their truck?

They just apply an electronic lockout when the transfer case is shifted to 4WD, both low and high range. They really are a nicely designed and made unit, I just wish there was one of higher torque capacity.

Got me an M75, now I need parts!!!!!!! GOT PICS.....

They can be hard to find, I managed to find a basically new set of tracks but they came with final drives, road wheels, sprockets and support rollers. All I wanted was pads but I ended up having to buy the whole lot, about 10,000 lbs., for my M42A1 Duster.

Got me an M75, now I need parts!!!!!!! GOT PICS.....

Kinda looks like one of those 100 or so that went through the Mt. St. Helens flood. They sat in a field and well . . . a LOT of water and silt got into things. Many headed south and the story goes, they weren't properly paid for from the proper owner.

Has anyone put a gear vendor in their truck?

They aren't reliable over about 25,000, especially when in reverse. They are very torque limited and for a CUCV there would not be any issues. I wanted one for my '08 F450 that I tow the green toys with, but I often go over 36,000 lb., they don't recommend that.

Next step for DMA251's old HEMTT

That is wrong in so many ways, disrespectful to the old girl. SOME of the girls are kinda cute, so I'd be happy to give 'em a ride on something bigger, the wife might not like that though.;-)

    5 ton rpm

B engines are still being used today, the current 6.7 is a "B" engine and so were the 3.9 and the 5.9 and I've never heard about them running away from anything but a bad turbo seal. Now Detroits, the 2 strokes, had a bad tendency to run away and most of the early ones I've seen had emergency...

    5 ton rpm

How in the world would an air leak cause a run away? Where is the fuel source to cause this? I know badly leaking turbo seals can do it, or any source of fuel being introduced to the intake tract but an air leak?

Next step for DMA251's old HEMTT

I would Bjorn but even in 1/8" aluminum they aren't that sturdy for holding my fat butt. Also they are nice and light and I want to keep them that way. Each 6' segment weighs less than 50 lb.!

Next step for DMA251's old HEMTT

That depends, the 2010 Arlington Airshow is July 7-11th and we will be gearing up for that a few days before and assisting in take down for a few days after. We will probably be taking 3-4 vehicles of our own. We will try to attend the convoy if we can. Are you guys coming to Arlington? It...
