Bruce, it took about 5 seconds apiece to get the lugs on the HEMTT to start to turn with the Robo, I think I can live with that on something that doesn't require a TON of air. Less than two minutes I had all the lugs off on one wheel that were tightened properly by a truck tire shop.
When I needed to move the HEMTT, after doing an axle seal change, and didn't yet have my 600 lb.ft. torque wrench, I used a 1/2" extra long breaker bar until it bent horribly under my 230 lb.. The Robo was able to turn the nuts further 1/4 turn. When I got my torque wrench, I only got another...
So Cougar, you want to be with 8-10 MV's for a day or two or do you want to be with 120+ for 5-6 days? We have a 60-80 vehicle convoy around the airport taxiways 3 days in a row . . .
This is the one event that we don't ever want to miss, it just keeps getting better and better every year...
I'm sure Jinx and I can meet up and travel together. It's more than 15 miles for us to meet up with you guys. The shortest and most direct route will be about 60 miles for me and 90 for him. If we meet up with you guts it adds more than 50 miles.
I just hope we don't have liquid sunshine...
Yup, I agree I had some o-rings in my Duster's fuel pump that took a rather strange shape, new round cross sectional ones made the fuel pump leak free again. Having a gasoline leak on a 900 CID air cooled engine is not a nice thing to behold!
Every military tracked vehicle with track segments (that I've seen) are replaceable one at a time in the field unlike all the earth moving equipment I've worked on that did have a master pin and the segments had to be pressed in and out with specalized equipment.
Regarding the lifetime of...
So has there been a revised starting time? I can't really meet up with those heading up from the south because it'd just about double the mileage to get there, to a total of 120 miles. I would be happy to meet anyone coming from the north to convoy there.
I have tracks that have the rubber molded in, my pins and bushings last FAR longer than the wear surfaces. As it is, I've had to replace tracks on my Scorpion just because the rubber is no longer protecting the road, I'd love to have the option of having more rubber vulcanized onto them or more...
I use an F450 and a gooseneck trailer I had built for my toys. I wasn't planning on loading up the Scorpion until the Arlington Airshow in July. With the HEMTT, I just get in and drive without all that loading and chaining hassle. Besides, it'll probably be raining with my luck and I try to...
