Here's what I use for my armor, or in this case a 5 ton M656. Trailer has 2 -12,000 lb axles with disc brakes and a power dove tail ramp, overall bed 29'. 2008 Ford F450 with a factory tow rating of 24k, 6.4 Diesel with 4.88 rear gears.
That is just what you want, your oil will get rid of the water at those temperatures and stay much cleaner.
I have the opposite problem in the HEMTT, it takes 20 miles for the trans to get to 130 and 45 miles to get to 180. Even in the summer it takes a while but does eventually get 10 degrees...

Heavier duty crane is all I can tell and I believe all 985's have been upgraded from the 4 speed to the 5 speed Allison, like mine has, but I cannot confirm this.
