DUKWs have been a great investment for me. I remembered when you could get a decent DUKW for less then 10k. They just seem to keep climbing on price. I have considered selling my second DUKW but I'm not sure it would be wise.
it it is a big project. I lost a few nights of sleep thinking the truck would never drive again with my project. In the end she fired right up and ran great. I have survived going deep into the dragons belly all I can say is mark all the hoses and wiring well.
I never completely pinpointed the problem. It was the converter locking in reverse. After a I did a full valve body disassembly and found nothing there I spent a few hours talking to different Allison techs. The final determination was that there was more than likely a crack in the pump area...
It could be the linkage but the transfer lever has a lot more throw then what is needed to shift the transfer case. If it is a bad case I would let the dealer have his truck back as that will be a BIG project to swap a transfer case. I had the fun of changing out a bad trans in mine it requires...
The only option I see is to make all post except for the original poster be a anonymous name like a certain auction site did. Only the original poster can see the actual posters name and PM them. That would eliminate people going around the sellers back and let the general public still see...
All the pictures here are the same as it looks now. I just have had no time to work on it. I'm actually starting to consider selling it, but I'm sure I'll regret it if I do. What condition is yours in? The one problem with these is everything will have to be built from scratch as there is no...
Does anyone know how the struts for the slant back hatch are supposed to be assembled and adjusted? The kit comes with two tubes, 2 rubber plugs, 2 pinch clamps and 2 different length gas struts.
Thanks
Ryan
From what I have been told is that someone that bought in the first round of trucks got in a serious accident. At that point the government pulled the plug on selling the MK48 to the public. I'm sure some high powered attorney got involved. These are not a vehicle that every joe should have...
That would be a VERY BAD IDEA! One it is way to heavy. Two it is designed to be bolted to a FPU not a pintle A frame. And three the 900 series trucks do not have the capability for the hydraulic take offs.
Not sure what catagory to put this in so if the moderators want to move it please do. I got this frame with a DUKW several years ago and have no idea what it is. I don't think it has anything to do with the DUKW but it is painted with WW2 forest green and primed with the good old yellow zinc...
