    th400. do I have a shift kit?

I had the same problem in my 1028. Turned out to be a corroded hard vacuum line against the firewall. Loss of vacuum equals no shift. Bridged the break with a short piece of rubber vacuum line and a couple clamps. Shifts perfect now. Check all your lines from the IP back to the modulator at the...

    New to this M101A1 Trailer

The TM should provide all the info with regards to bearing evaluation. Discoloration or signs of excessive heat or rust are a red flag and usually means replace the bearing and the race. Part numbers are etched in the bearing face and can be cross referenced with regards to different...

    New M1008 owner

You will like the GV if you decide to take the plunge. They are pricey, but I've had mine 2 years with no problems. These rigs are not practical highway drivers without some sort of overdrive or tranny swap. Just a FYO if you buy from a GV dealer out of state GV will drop ship direct to you in...

38's on M1008= Better Gas Mileage?

I like the GV setup. Easy install, just need to shorten your rear drive shaft, and since I lifted 4" with new springs and shackle flip 7/8" shims were needed between the crossmember and frame to drop the drive line angle. That's about it. 2 years now with 0 problems and 65 -70 mph @ 2310 Rpm's...

38's on M1008= Better Gas Mileage?

I get 17-20 mph in my 1028 with Gear Vendor IF I stay at 65 or less. 4 " lift with surplus 37" radials on old Chevy 16.5 " rims. Nice catch on that 1031 from Herlong by the way.I salivated over that rig and almost out bid you!aua

Talk me into it (or out)1008

I think it is time for you to search the CUCV threads . Lots of info there regarding lifts, tires, mechanics, etc. The CUCV is in my opinion one of the great entry vehicles to the hobby that you can drive every day if you wish. I love mine.

Talk me into it (or out)1008

Get it! I own a 1028 and mainly use it to access my country property. 17-20 MPG is nice! It sure beats my '98 Dodge Ram V-10 @ 10 ! If it is a clean and mechanically sound as you say, that is a great deal. I have a 4" lift with 37's and a Gear Vendor so it is a decent highway truck. They will...

value of restored original MB vs. restored MB with repro body

Substantially higher. MB and GPW collectors first value unrestored vehicles or so called barn finds in original as possible condition. Then the same vehicles completely restored using original NOS parts - tubs and all sheetmetal included. Last, restored with modern replacement parts and as many...

M1008 Lift Kits - Seek advice on size ( 2,4,6 inch) & type: block or reverse shackle

Sharecropper is correct. I had to relocate the right rear shock mount on my shackle flip. Easy fix- cut, lower and re weld to axle housing.

M1008 Lift Kits - Seek advice on size ( 2,4,6 inch) & type: block or reverse shackle

I put an ORD 4" shackle flip , new Tough Country leafs in front and 37 " surplus radials on my 1028 and still had to trim the front fenders slightly to prevent rub on deep ruts. No big deal and you barely notice .

1952 M38 pics California Central Coast

Very nice ! I like the K & N air filter in lieu of the oil bath filter. I might do that on my '44 GPW. Definitely more practical.

Anyone have experience with these gensets?(Pow'r Gard / wisconsin Robin Diesel)

Nice! My MEP 016d weighs in at about 375 lbs fueled up. It is rather heavy for a 3k unit.

Nice looking units. And diesels too boot . They look lightweight. How much did you pay?

    Normal CUCV break in time

You have to stay on top of the beast for sure. I paid 3k for mine and dumped another 6k into it and I still baby it - looking for leaks , always monitoring its health and well being. Sure it can be frustrating, but once you learn these trucks and their operating systems they can be awesome...

    inner rocker panels

Did you find inner replacement rockers? Mine have a rust out on the right side. I was going to cut out the affected area and duplicate the cut out, then weld it in place followed up with body Schultz on the inside to keep future rust down.
