Just finished up my Badlands 12000lb winch installation on my 1028. Thanks to Shankem for the behind the bumper idea. I did mine a little different. I had the engage/ disengage lever on the right side of the truck. This allowed the cable to operate on the bottom of the winch and not near the the...
Nice gen set. I have the same unit. Many posts on these sets if you search, but for a quick answer to your questions, the plastic tanks usually leak at the drain plug- at least mine did. I removed the tank and flushed the tank with lacquer thinner to remove the crud. Then I epoxied over the...
That looks like the kit for the Blazer. Give them a call. Skip will help you make sure you source the correct kit. Lots of suppliers for these conversions out there. I went with TSM just for the ease of purchase all in one place and they use new not rebuilt calipers.
I know his has been covered before but I thought I would post my '85 M1028 rear drum to disc brake conversion. Thanks to Sharecropper for his excellent reference post. I also used TSM parts and the conversion was fairly easy. Some fabrication was required to use the existing parking brake...
I agree with Quickfarms. My M101a2 does fine with a properly operating surge brake. I prefer it to the electric brake on my 14' flatbed trailer. And the suspension is great. I think the military nailed it all around with this trailer as is. Just my 2 cents. VERY nice trailer .[thumbzup]
Do you already have the Sincgars radio? If not an RT-524 and R-442 would cover most of those frequencies and be correct for your vehicle. Also the VRC series is a lot more affordable than the Sincgars series of radios. The Rt-524 and R-442 would fit perfectly in the Humvee tray you have now. I...
Bad IP fuel shutoff solenoid. Had same problem . Replaced solenoid, fine ever since. Mine would shut down when hot then start right up when cooled down.
Vacuum leak in the lines between modulator at tranny and IP. That is the easiest thing to check for initially. Pull the hose at the modulator with engine running put finger over hose and feel for vacuum. While not as precise as a vacuum gauge, no vacuum or very little could mean a leak. I had...
Rt-524 or Rt-246 and an R-442 should do the trick. They are VHF radios , military surplus. I have both in my 1028. Parts including radios and cables with mounts ran about 1K. Install was easy. Sourcing parts can be a challenge. With a PRC77 you can test your setup and have vehicle and pack...
Looks great. Did the same to my truck but with a shackle flip from ORD. One thing I noticed is that parts wear out faster when you run 37's . Even with a 1 ton suspension. Ask me how I know.
These units come with either a plastic or metal bottom tank. Mine was plastic and was pretty nasty inside. I removed the tank and cleaned with lacquer thinner . It also had a split in the drain fitting. Epoxy fixed that. Mine started on the first pull. The retrofits to diesel were done very well...
Nice looking truck! My 1028 recovery was about the same- 500 miles. First thing I would install is a TinyTach. That way you can monitor your RPM's . I drove from SoCal to NorCal chugging along at 55 with big rigs on my tail in the slow lane on I-5 . Not an experience I'd like to repeat. Good...
I had a similar problem. It was a wear through pinhole in one of the hard fuel lines by the transfer case crossmember. Spliced out the bad section with rubber line. Problem gone. Hope this helps. Air in the system is your enemy.
I had the same problem with the fuel pump on my 016D. As stated above, remove the capacitor first- not needed, then on the bench disassemble the pump and carefully clean lube and reassemble. This should solve your problem. In my case my float switch was defective so I bypassed it to a spring...
