I would expect that 50k is actually reasonable even for a helo shell. I have seen wrecked ones go for 25K + just for components in them. I am not sure how much an engine would cost or all the particulars in getting them airworthy but I'd be willing to bet that when airworthy they could fetch...
Did you check the oil to see if you were low? I only ask because At a higher RPM maybe lubrication oil is getting into the combustion chamber...Weird yes, but I don't think it's impossible. But having never built a diesel I will shut my pie hole and hope someone else (with experience) speaks up:?
never mind I see you want 12v. 24v to 12v transformers on ebay. Around 40$ Then you pull off both alternators and batteries and get regulated 12v. Just put a switch on the dash, and wire back to a trailer type plug.
Having made biodiesel a few times I can tell you look on ebay for conical bottom tanks. I bought 3 for 250$. You will need a heated barrel for settling out water also. A black barrel in the sun is fine but better to have a water heater element in it or still better a strap on drum heater. Being...
I would check all the main grounds. Such as the grounds off the batteries to the frame and the frame to the block. The fact that you had an intermitant reading says that either it's a broken wire or a loose or dirty wire (or some contact that isn't quite making). You may have to get someone...
Biodiesel will not eat rubber if it is properly "washed" Read from the fryer to the fuel tank. I have made biodiesel a few times and had no trouble. Washing puts the pH to 7 (neutral) so it will not hurt anything if washed (it will however clean all the crud out of your fuel tank. and deposit it...
What does a cosmetic resto like this cost? (ballpark) minus the truck cost but assuming paint, new marker lights and interior work such as you have done here? Man it looks great!
May be time to try to hit up some of the AZ guys to see if someone could come by and you could look at their truck as an example. I have fixed many problems by having a good running example right next to me. With someone doing "home made a/c work" to your truck there may be wiring issues that...
Have you cleaned all of your electrical connections going to the IP to shiny metal and used dielectric grease on the connections? I just can't figure Why it runs and then doesn't. Seems to me and intermittent problem wouldn't be the IP but...You might get a rebuilt one and see if it solves your...
May be the IP... Yes you can use the electric fuel pump with the mechanical. My m1009 occasionally loses prime when hot. You can kill the batteries trying to get her to start with no joy. With the electric pump I just flip the switch and voila! she starts right up.
