Armytruck63 update: M1009 only, not enough time to get Mule ready. Hand held CB with rubber ducky antenna, can't find BNC to RG-58 adapter to use larger antenna. But, I do have PRC-25 to try out as standby.
See you guys in the AM!
#2 for a crazy day. Here goes: drove 60 miles to job, worked half a day, met my old boss for lunch to talk about possible new job, after lunch went to my dad's to load the M38A1 on the trailer (dad is 83), surprise, messed up lights on the car trailer due to it being dropped/dragged on the...
New route Yucaipa Folks ONLY
Everyone,
Here is the new route. The changes, other than a minor tweak at the Jack in the Box, affect the three vehicles coming from Yucaipa only.
32464 Dunlap Blvd, Yucaipa, CA 92399 to Walden Weaver Rd, Hemet, CA 92545 - Google Maps
Many thanks to deucaid for...
Latest Saturday weather for Hemet sounds even better:
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 10 mph.
7-Day Forecast for Latitude 33.75N and Longitude 116.97W (Elev. 1581 ft)
I received the "vendor parking" passes in the mail from Kylia yesterday. I really don't know how important these passes are, but we should have one each in case of any problems. I will pass them out to the convoy members.
Jim, glad you'll be joining the convoy. The fixed video camera on the deuce sounds cool. I'll see if I can shoot some video or at least get some stills from the first part of the convoy.
The weather looks great for Saturday, sunny and clear, high of 83, no mention of wind:

Sweet!
More important that towing a deuce with a deuce, in my opinion, is stopping a deuce with a deuce. An M35A2 is rated to tow 10,000 lbs and weighs around 13,000 to 14,000 pounds. That means when you tow a deuce with a deuce, you are using the tow deuce beyond its rated capacity. Just be aware...
Jason,
I thought Jim (theRecorder) was going to the airport directly from home since going on the convoy added a lot of distance for him.
Also in the Yucaipa convoy, my friend, let's call him Mentone Jim will be bringing his 1941 Dodge WC-1 pickup. He will be the slowest vehicle, so we should...
Well, it looks like it will be plan B. My dad wants to trailer the M38A1 from the OC. My replacement boots for the deuce should be arrving today, but we have out of town guests all this week, so guess I won't get the boots replaced (unless I put my guests to work). I will put some sort of CB...
Ditto on the 45 speed. If I need to go 55 for more than a brief burst, or go on a super long trip, I put the M38A1 on a trailer or in the back of the deuce.
I am planning on driving the M38A1 with my dad. There is no military radio attachment, but we will do CB. Plan B is the M1009 with PRC-25 already installed. Plan C is the M35A2 with the PRC-25 from the M1009 installed.
I had too many honey-do jobs this weekend to get the pre-run done. I...
Not at all. Would you be joining the convoy in Yucaipa or Moreno Valley? We are talking about Saturday 6-11-11, 0630 in Yucaipa or 0730 in Moreno Valley.
Everyone,
I spoke on the phone with Kylia at Hemet-Ryan today. I told her we would have something like 10 vehicles convoying over or arriving individually. She said it is important the we try to get to the ariport by 8:30 AM. We will be going in the gate by the Hangar One Cafe. I will try to...
