    The $820 M109A3 Resurrection

Don't forget the orange shag carpeting, the egg chair, disco ball, and the 8-track player. [thumbzup]

    Tour of Eastern Europe

Wow Duncan, thanks so much for sharing the story and photos! I will share this with my Hungarian coworker. PS: I like the potted plant and fuzzy dice in the cab of the Tatra.

Thanks for the description of the problem and the solution. This is great information.

    One Deuce battery died

You should replace both batteries if you can afford to.

    True or Not True?

I think it would cause tooling problems on the stamping line if two different gages of sheet metal were used. I'm going with "no".

    Fuel problem on the m1009

Agree with mistaken1. There is a very good reason there is a warning under the hood about not using starting fluids. When they hit the hot glow plugs, ignition takes place no matter what position the piston is in. This can bend a connecting rod etc. It is only safe to use starting fluid on...

    RV roof top ac

That is a 120 Vac model. You'll need an invertor capable of providing 15 Amps at 120 Vac before you can even think about running that thing.

How do you prefer your deuce?

I agree with A/C Cages. I like mine running and ready to go. I would rather drive than wrench. fat lady sings I like having the canvas on the back for easy camping set up.

    fuel pump

Maybe you could locate a 24 Volt electric fuel pump somwhere else in-line and just draw through the old pump.

    Flat Tire on Deuce

Me too. My dad is 83 and still plays with MV's, though nothing bigger than a jeep these days. He loves driving my M1009 and will ride in the deuce if I drive. :)

    Flat Tire on Deuce

Double :ditto:. I'll let some younger, more experienced guy with a stronger back than mine mount and dismount the tires. It's always fun watching the old time tire guys teaching junior how to work with the lock ring wheels.

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

Sharecropper has a point. Maybe I am bad-mouthing NDT's because of running them at 50 PSI on an empty deuce. Lower air pressure in the back might have helped. I had one of those "Hello!" moments approaching a stop sign going downhill in the rain.

    Fort MacArthur Days

Hey Jerry, Ft Mac didn't work out for me this year, so thanks for posting the photos. I like the rare WWII Holden Jeep ambulance and the Kubelwagen.

    Deuce tires on the CUCV???

Just remember how badly NDT's suck on wet pavement.

    Slow vehicle safety

There have been studies that have shown that drunk drivers often head TOWARDS flashing emergency lights.

    24 VDC to 12 VDC & 24 VDC to 110 AC converters/inverters Question

Modified sine wave will probably work fine for the coffee maker (especially older ones). Not sure about the alarm clock though. Why don't you buy an el-cheapo battery powered digital alarm clock. Keep us up to date on your College Safari!

    M1009 Steering "Delay" or "Shift"

While following Barrman's advice, also watch the front crossmember. A friend of mine had to replace the rivets with grade 8 bolts because the rivets were loose. He had half a turn of free play in his steering wheel. If it were me, I would try to find a frame repair place and get the rivets...

    Gen 1 dash light

Which means of course, don't get the GEN 1 and GEN 2 bulbs mixed up...
