One clamp I have always loved to use, and now I'm having trouble finding a pic is a "military spec" terminal from NAPA that uses a 4 bolt "cap" to hold the wire in the terminal. The wire can be inserted from 3 directions and it's a really heavy clamp. Too bad I can't seem to locate any anymore.
Interestingly enough, NAPA carries the military spec terminals under part number PHI 8619 and similar ones that are also mil-spec under NW 728222 and NW 728223.
Mark, is your Milemarker the hydraulic version? If so, I take it that you like it? I am considering getting one in the future for my Ramcharger project and after looking over all of Milemarker's info I think it might be a good piece.
The air cleaner is easy to find cheap NOS. Check Ebay or Saturn Surplus. In addition to the tail lamps inverted and the pintle missing it appears to have had the original fuel pump/vacuum pump combo replaced by a civilian fuel pump. How are the wipers operated with the pump missing? I take...
I think by layered, Dave means multiple layers of vinyl use to make an image. For example, the shield above could be done with the yellow cut out as the entire image and then separate grey, white and black stickers would be applied over it to complete the image. The image on top would probably...
As long as the pic is detailed I don't see why a sign company can't do it. Our local sign and sticker shop makes full color decals for the local Fire Depts and such. Might be better to have it in bmp format or something. It depends on the software they are using. If it's a pic of a sticker...
I have been pondering something like this for a while. I don't have a truck to use it on but I had thought of making a folding hoist on top of the Ramcharger to put gear and/or a spare on the roof rack. I have a nice little 1200lbs ATV winch that would be perfect for a small boom.
Also consider the fact that most Deuces are slow compared to the average pickup and hauling one Jeep while towing another will mean you will be in a low gear, crawling up hills. It sounds like a 5 ton might be a better choice if you want to haul that much around.
Good point David. I just want those involved to consider everything as like it or not, this is setting a precedent that other states may follow in the future and a mistake in the slightest detail could be a major problem for a lot of others in the long run. That may sound a little critical but...
Nice looking truck but I will never understand the need to use invasion stars on vehicles built long after WWII. Sort of defeats the purpose of a restoration, but to each his own...
I've been watching this thread for a while now, as well as other mentions of this topic on other forums. And while it doesn't concern me directly (yet) I can't help but notice that there seems to be two camps against this. One who is protesting the off road only status of Pinzgauers and the...
Check with the Ranger office in that district for info on the trail. They should be able to tell you if the trail would be suitable for larger trucks. The "offshoots" sound an awful lot like they would dead end and not have a large enough turn around spot for a Deuce, not to mention trying to...
Are you wanting the factory type bolts or just a bolt the right size and length? The factory ones are normally listed as "Not Serviced" meaning the factory doesn't keep them on hand and sell them by part number so you have to source them locally. So if you want factory ones, you will have to...
Point taken. I wonder how much of GL's sales are to private owners and if there is any way to find out what percentage of sales go to whom? We can sort of keep an eye on some of the big buyers because we see their numbers come up so often but I don;t pay any attention to the purely...
Bjorn, I know you want to stay original with the tires but considering the age and condition of originals, not to mention the rarity, perhaps in the future it might be worthwhile to get procure an extra set of rims and maybe some XLs or highway tread tires so you can get her out on the road? I...
Ahh, now that I see pics of the two trucks together, I can see the differences. Still a very cool rig.
My Ramcharger Project is based a little on Soni's "War Wagon" Ramcharger. Mine won't be Hemi powered obviously, but with the exception on the EFI 318 and NP435 4 speed, the drivetrain will...
I disagree, GL doesn't care about the MV collector since the majority of it's sales are either to scrap dealers or large rebuilders. Now they may freak a little at losing the sales to the large companies that rebuild trucks, but I doubt they would care much about losing sales to an individual...
It's no big deal. Just swap the engine in and then put a Deuce Rockwell front axle and suspension under it to support it. then you will need a transmission to live behind the LDT so you might as well use the Deuce tranny also. You better put the rear axle under the truck also, just to keep...
