RE: Re: RE: Dodge w250
I have 3 or 4 places that carry sheet metal for the older Dodges. If I can remember, I'll post the links when I get home tonight. Or you could post up over at www.ramchargercentral.com and some of the guys there can probably help you out in the meantime.
The D70 front swap wouldn't be worth it. You still end up with a old, weaker axle with a huge turning radius and low parts availability. A D60 or D44 front swap is the only thing reasonable and a D60/70 or 14Bolt for the rear.
That trans is a short version. Some RVs had it, some didn't. There is one shorter 727 that was put in aircraft tugs with a slant six but they are a bit unusual to find. I agree that you should at least mock up the sheet metal in place to get an idea of what space you have to deal with. The...
The MTs I have on my D60s are directional. Granted they are a different size, but they are the same tread and have the rotational direction clearly marked on the sidewall.
RE: M800 series doing Rail duty
You pop the ring off then take the lugs off. More of a pain to put back on since you have to turn them just right to get the ring on. I've also seen some that have safety wire on them.
Like Sermis said, the NP200 is an old case that was not designed to cope with todays highway speeds. Prolonged use over 50 MPH has been known to overheat them to the point of cooking all the fluid out of them. A NP205 is a much better case.
On the drivetrain length, just find a 2WD short...
I take it you mean a Dodge W200 truck? Try these:

Remember that you can cut a few inches out of the intermediate shaft between the transmission and transfer case to gain a few inches. I would go ahead and swap to a NP205 transfer case while you are at it though. The NP200 is a crappy case for daily use.
I'm pretty sure the RB block swap has been done before. It might be tight around the manifolds, but my 318 fit with ease so a big block shouldn't be a huge hassle. Might have to modify the firewall a bit.
Yeah but they are French, so you know they haven't been used much, lol! Actually the top pic is from Iraq and I believe Mexico purchased quite a few of them as well. I think they are a unique looking APC with a lot of nice features in the design. With the dropped side hull in the front I...
The Ferrari is a photochop. My dream piece of armor is a Panhard VCR in 6x6 form, especially an ambulance version. The middle axle on these will also lift for ease of turning on paved roads.
I believe the early model Deuces with winch had the headlamps raised to shine over the longer bumper. Trucks without the winch had the headlamps lower int he grille. Later, all Deuces were made with the headlamps in the higher position regardless of whether the winch was installed.
RE: Re: RE: Winch brake grrr.. -DDoyle don
I'm with Tom, I still don't see much point in the brake. Even if you do shear the pin or put the transmission in neutral the winch is not going to be able to back-spin the worm drive. On our dual line wrecker we never engaged the brake while towing...
Another thought (and this may be considered blasphemy) is this, Mil-spec might not be the best thing out there. For restoration, sure the mil-spec stuff is the way to go but lets face it, mil-spec is good, but it's made by the lowest bidder and what was high tech 40 years ago is a bit behind...
Ah ha! I finally found a pic of the old 4 bolt clamps I used to have on the Ramcharger. Note that the top plate of the clamp is lead, just like the rest of the clamp. The bolts screw into nuts that recess into the bottom of the clamp so you don't have to worry about stripping the threads out...
While this is very true, I still liked them on my old Ramcharger since it's electrical system was in a constant state of flux with me experimenting with different multiple battery setups, alternators, and a lot of accessories. They made it easy to add or subtract accessory wires at the battery...
RE: clamps
The ones I posted claim to be mil-spec. They even list the spec number:
But who knows exactly what that means or if they truly do conform to that spec. Here's a link to the terminal on NAPA's online Truck Parts catalog...
