Interesting... on my M1009 one is a standard wing nut and washer, and the other is a one-piece wing nut with a washer-like base that has a nub on the bottom to mate with grooves in the air cleaner cover. This, I presume, keeps it from vibrating loose.
Which one is original? I'd have to say the...
I got the 12 inch one, and like it so far. It was a bit strange getting used to it after driving the truck for a few weeks without one. I did not use the Pep Boys glue. While I had a glass shop filling a chip in the windshield, I had them mount the mirror. There was a hole in the glass where the...
My 1009 was missing the rear view mirror when I got it. I opted for a larger mirror that I picked up at Pep Boys. The visors hit the mirror, but the original must have been really small for the visors to clear it!
I'm happy with the bigger mirror, and just have to be careful with the visors, or...

I've read many accounts here about the stock fuel filter base causing air leaks, so it is a...
I could use a few of these brush guards, but I fear that is more of a drive then I can justify! I don't suppose they ship? Any idea on cost, etc?
Cool pics, thanks!
Big pulley on the crankshaft, bottom of the engine, just in front of the oil pan. Crawl under the front bumper and look up, can't miss it! There is a recent thread about inspecting and replacing them.
How is the pinion ( bendix? ) gear attached to the rotating shaft of the starter? Is there a key or pin? Perhaps that is missing or broken. I've never taken a starter apart, and was unable to find a good description or pictures online.
This is the post I was thinking of: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/73015-m1009-wheel-bearing-servicing-hub-replacement.html#post902061
It seems it is only a difference in the spindle / bearing nut, not the rest of the parts.
