    Bubba’s Dump………..

If my understanding is correct, the original voltmeter is a 12v meter, not 24v. There is supposed to be a resistor on the back of it that drops the 24v to 12v, in conjunction with the internal resistance of the meter itself. I suppose it is similar to the way the GP resistor works to drop 24v...

    starter stuck on

This is exactly the way I want to do the doghead starter relay mod for my M1009. I take it there was plenty of material inside the old relay to solder new wires to, etc? I don't suppose you have any pictures?

Pic thread? Looking for m1009's with minimal lift.

We are thinking about 33s for our M1009, as it will ( does ) need tires soon. A lift was not in the discussion, but I do like the looks of the 2" lifts I've seen here, so that may happen one of these days as well. My goal, at the moment, is to find a 33" that does not rub, at least not in...

Doghead starter relay modification - new idea.

I want to do something like this for the relay mod myself. I don't want to alter the stock harness. My thought was to take apart the original relay and use its base as a connector, adding new wires to run to the suggested Doghead relay. I have not done it yet, as I don't have a spare original...

    PDF For Military Maintenance Logs?

Just did my first oil & filter change on our M1009 with my boys the other day, and soon will be doing other maintenance tasks. Lets say I want to get a bit silly about it, and use a log book to track what we have done to the vehicle. Not that a log book is silly, but what if I want to use...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Taught my boys how to change the engine oil and filter. We also changed the fluid in the transfer case. Sometime this weekend we'll tackle the trans filter and fluid and the gear oil in the diffs. Took way longer then I expected, but there was lots of pointing out things and explanations given...

6.2 rebuild. what changes can i make for more HP?

Well, I've only read about them, but I understand that they are made of unobtainium and that the Wally World down the road from Area 51 has them on special sometimes. I've never been able to get over there in time though. Wonder if I can put them on layaway?

6.2 rebuild. what changes can i make for more HP?

Oh, but what about those fuel line magnets? I heard that if you put them around each injector line you will get 80MPG and achieve light speed!

No GP Resistor on Oh9. Do I need it?

It is covered in the FAQ. You can either go from the front batt or from the 12v terminal block right next to the relay, which is what I did. Some use a fusible link for the connection. I will change mine once I buy some. In the meantime, I just reused the wire that went between the 24v buss...

    peel & seal

This stuff is coated with aluminum, yes? Should we be concerned about its conductivity, especially in the firewall area? I'd hate to see something sort out on it! Other than that, I think this is a great idea, and will be doing it once I get the floor cleaned up, repaired, and prepped. Thanks...

    wipers... will not return

While I have not done this, yet... I think you will need the wiper delay module that attaches to the harness at the bottom of the steering column. I read about this in the threads about swapping in a tilt steering column. Of course, you will probably need whatever harness goes from the wiper...

    New M1009 in SoCal

Thanks! They may have been... have to admit that I was a bit excited picking up the truck, so may have missed them. By the way, the new hood looks good, are you going to paint it to match?

Have not tried washing it yet, as it has been raining on and off the last two days. Will give it a try once the weather clears up!

    wipers are slow

I agree with you about the grease lasting much longer then the WD-40, etc. You mentioned using lithium grease out of a tube. Is that substantially better then using the spray form of lithium grease? Sometimes it is easier to get the spray nozzle into tight places!

Whats the best glow plug for the cucv

I've been wondering about this myself. I see many people say that you won't be able to jump via a slave cable if you bypass the GPs to 12v. I don't understand this, as the slave cable puts 24v across both batteries... so, does that mean the 12v just disappears? Now maybe it is not as strong as...

    New M1009 in SoCal

My Father and I drove out to Nellis this past Thursday and picked up my '84 M1009. The listing said "runs", and she sure does! We went out there with a trunk full of parts, fluids and tools, and didn't need 99.9% of them. While we were there, there was another Father and Son team picking up the...
