Carnac,
Here is the info for my M1009 I picked up yesterday:
1984 M1009
a. 1G8ED18J2EF196728
b. NF066W
c. 2320011232665
d. Nellis AFB, NV
e. don't have paint off yet
One extra thing: "-10-F84" stenciled on upper right corner of windshield, don't know if it means anything or is helpful...
Just a quick update... tired now... :D
Went to Nellis today, met with Chris, and then went out to work on the M1009. Another auction winner was there working on the M1009 right next to mine. We were left alone to work as we liked.
Short version:
Checked fluids, changed flat tire with spare...
Thank you! I think I've got everything on your list above, except fuel, as I plan on filling the jerry can once we get near the base. Not sure how much sleep I'm going to get tonight, feeling nervous and a bit excited... hmm... I guess I'm just an MV virgin... rofl
Cool, thanks for the info! Chris was going on leave for a bit when I scheduled my pickup, and said he would be back on 11/03. I do have the lot number of the vehicle I've been asked to look at, so hopefully I'll be able to provide the SS member with some useful intel.
Thank you all for your responses!
fuzzyone28 - Were you still on-base while you worked on it? It looks to me like the GL location is well inside the gates. If not, was there someplace in public nearby where you could?
Also, a member has asked me to take a look at purchase to be picked up...
I'll be heading out in the morning for my first ever GL recovery. This will also be my first MV.
Looking at the directions supplied by GL and judicious use of the sat maps, it looks pretty straight forward to get to the base and GL lot. Is there anything I should be aware of, aside from...
Wednesday? I thought Nellis pickup days were only Tuesday and Thursday, and that Chris was out until this Thursday. Is there a different schedule for different lots?
Rather then start another "I need a key" thread, I'll just add onto this one.
I'll be, I hope, picking up an M1009 next week. We are planning on driving it home. The auction listing says it has a key, but I've read too many posts about things not being where they are supposed to be when you get...
I would think any 12v light that you like could be used, and just tie it into the GP side of the relay. You could even use one of the 12v LED bulbs if there is any concern of the bulb taking away from the current available to the GPs, but I doubt that is really a concern.
No, no plans to put the original relay back, don't worry about that!
I think it is more of not wanting to damage a harness that I don't have to. It comes from working on my old Datsun Z. Some parts you just can't get anymore, or if you can, they are pretty spendy. So, if I don't have to cut...
Yes, here we go again... well, maybe not...
Hello, I'm fairly new here, and have an interest in getting an M1009 one day, hopefully soon. ( I've also recently discovered that my wife is interested in a deuce, boy am I in for it! ) To prepare for that day, I have been doing a lot of reading in...
Sorry, I know this was posted a while ago, but I just came across it today and had a question.
Is it possible that the reason for the plastic pins was to allow the column / steering shaft to collapse in an accident? If so, would the replacement of those pins with bolts lead to the dreaded...
I've not been here long, and have no practical experience with these GP systems, but I seem to remember reading here that if you are still using the 24v feed through the resistors to supply the relay, then the relay has to have an isolated ground. There was a test mentioned where you use an ohm...
I may have got that wrong, I thought I had read about someone picking up vehicles in Bakersfield, but then I've been reading so much here that my head is a bit fuzzy!
