Dueceaid, count me in. I literally drive by the farm every day. Your place is just down the hill from me. I'm always looking for local places to exercise MV's, especially the Mule.
Even thought all of my vehicles are parked in plain sight, I don't feel comfortable advertizing what I own (let's just say they are all M-series except for the Pinzgauer). I don't even list vehicles in my signature.
After watching a friend going through an all day "search" of his property...
You could try swapping transmission lids to see if that fixes anything. I don't know about any adjustments.
My deuce sometimes jumps out of fourth gear going downhill. I only found this out when I started mountain driving in the deuce.
I will pass this on to my dad (not on SS - yet). He has known Sid since the seventies. We too, bought M37 parts from him over the years.
I hope for the best for Sid.
My deuce seems to also have a bigger than normal primary filter. I bought a NAPA filter for it (not installed yet) and the filter I bought looks too small.
I agree with Barrman. A friend of mine wore out the steering compnents of his M38A1 flat towing it behind his 5-ton. God only knows what was going on back there.
XM,
You'll love the M211 when you are finished with the restoration. My first experience in an MV was when I got to ride in an M211 when I was 10 years old.
I always thought these trucks were, in many respects, about 40 years ahead of their time.
My son, who I must have trained well, took these photos of an M813 on super singles, with two Weasels in tow, today in La Quinta, CA (near Palm Springs). This is a nice looking set up. Does it belong to a Steel Soldiers member?
Just wondering
I have a 24 volt charger for an electric wheelchair. It makes a great 24 volt trickle charger. When I get home, I will try to get the manufacturer and model number.
One thing a 400 Hz generator could be used for, with no modifications, is running incandescent lights.
Incandescent lights operate fine on DC or AC volts regardless of frequency, as long as the voltage is correct.
