Hey Opcom,
That last option, the M818 with the M109 box shoved back to make room for the generator and spare tire, looks inherently unstable to me. I would be afraid of fishtailing.
I wonder how the same idea with a longer M814 frame would look.
I would help if I lived closer.
Maybe you can find a tool rental place that will rent you a dual wheel dolly like this:
Greg Smith Equipment Sales Inc. - The lift professionals with quality automotive equipment at discount prices.
You don't even need to remove the wheels to get at the...
The reason the 400 Hz generators are so much cheaper is that there are so few uses for them in the civilian world.
Like Ike said, incandescent light bulbs and heater elements are about all you can run with them.
My dad and I thought our dog had licked up some antifreeze that dripped form our M38A1 before we had a chance to clean it up. The dog had a seizure and started foaming from the mouth.
The dog survived and we now think this was the first attack of epilepsy, which the dog developed a short time...
I would replace both tanks. The tank not leaking is probably in only slightly better condition than the leaker. Better to do the job at your comfortable home rather than out in the field.
Yes, it's definitely possible. Do a search on turbo conversion and see what you come up with.
I would suggest driving this truck before hand if you can. Non-turbo trucks have only slightly less power because the turbos were added mainly to clean up the exhaust, not to produce more power. So...
I just turned 47 last week. My stepson and I have the same birthday, so we celebrated by taking the M1009 and going shooting out in the desert.
I've been around MV's since I was 11. My dad is 81, still plays with MV's and he still has the M422 (not-A1) Mighty Mite he bought in 1974.
I'm old...
I just found out that I am getting hammered on taxes this year, so if I make the trip, it will have to be the economy version. Maybe my son and I will come up for one day in the M1009 with some sweeping tools.
I would make sure that right front wheel is not bent - yes it can happen. It would also be a good idea to have the wheel alignment (toe-in) checked as well.
I was always told you want to face the ring of a spare tire mounted behind the cab facing towards the trailer, just in case something bad happens. Will the spare fit in the mount this direction?
EDIT: Nevermind - I looked at the picture and saw that the tire is mounted in the correct...
That's one wounded Mule. Hope the repairs will be easy.
On the good side, you applied that handy rust preventative solution called gear oil all over the underside of the Mule.
Hey Will, thanks for posting this event and the Route 66 convoy here on SS. I will try to make Tehachapi. Depending on whether the wife is interested or not, it will be either a deuce & Mule trip, or a Blazer and Mule trip.
Talk to you later, Matt.
Latter half of September would be great. It cools off some a couple of weeks after Labor Day.
By then fire danger will be high - right now everything is sopping wet.
Dueceaid, I have a friend in Riverside with a WWI truck. I'm sure I could convince him to bring it up and run it around the...
