Dumpster truck backed into my M1009!

I am glad his bumper caught mine, if the only point of contact was the back of his truck to my top it would have shattered like clay bird

Dumpster truck backed into my M1009!

So there I was, sitting at my computer opening up the shop this morning, when I heard this sound I could not recognize. I looked out yon window and saw a dumpster truck in the parking lot and the nose of my M1009 at a funny angle, which made me wonder "did I park that wonky this morning? Must...

    Show us your Military Trailers

That is due to several factors: #1-the smaller the unit the easier it is for city folk to deal with (park in their driveway etc,,,) the same applies to jeeps #2- little things are "cute" and it is in our DNA to protect little things (that is how babies survive past the diaper stage) the same...

    your camping trailer loadout recommendations

Years ago my GF and I went to the Kerrville Folk Festival and one of the camper trailers had a large garden tiller on the back. They were loaning it out so the tent pitchers could level the ground under their tents!

    your camping trailer loadout recommendations

The 1" units would also weigh less and be cheaper (and weigh less which is VERY important in a camper)

    your camping trailer loadout recommendations

I REALLY like the suggestion of 2" receiver hitches mounted all over for slide in items! I have seen all sorts of things mounted in that manner...

    M116AS Tough Enough

El Toasto! I have often wondered about towing a trailer behind my M109A3 as a "crumple zone" and those photos may have made my mind for me! This post strengthens my love for the M116/M101 series of trailers even more:)

Pix as follows: #1: a M1009 with a M416 (the only trailer authorized by the Army for use with the M1009) #2: a M1009 with a M101A2 (surge brakes and not too heavy IF loaded properly) #3: a M1009 with a M105A3 (WAY too heavy, shagging around the yard ONLY!) #4: M105A3 in it's proper position...

    MVPA Show in Huntsville, AL

I would rather see them packed in like sardines that not at all!

    MVPA Show in Huntsville, AL

Here is what I have, the lighting sucked and they trucks were packed in pretty tight. I talked to the man who restored it and he told me that a lot of the parts are original to the truck, including the bed floor and the brake shoes. He also told me that there are only four of them in the US.

I know you likely will not want to read this, but I saw some of those IV bottle holders on a table at the show. If I knew you wanted them I would have pointed them out!

    Painting outdoors

I am a "driveway shooter"! Both trucks, in the summer (hotter-n-hells), windy, dirty, Rapco paint out of a Harbor Freight gun. I put myself in the mindset of a po'd private assigned a krappy job nobody wanted because he missed formation that morning, so it would look military!

How fast does a M1008 go?

I found out last month what happens when you drive a M1028 at 50mph IN SECOND GEAR... After ten miles or so the tranny and/or the IP gets really hot and the truck looses power, will not maintain speed and the engine will not stop running when you turn off the key! Pinching the return line on the...

    m100 and m416 recovery

I have three "jeep" trailers (M416, M762 and Bantam T3-C) that ALL came from the D-FW area, keep looking they are out there, and seem to congregate near you!

    Surge brake lockout safety tip!

I had to use a tapered pin and a hammer.

    Hello from Texas

I thought Sarge had been on GL again! I would have been there with my M1028/M101A2 combo but I had to work, looks like a good time was had by all. From the perspective of someone who did not have to endure convoys in the Military I think they are extra cool! I like seeing trucks in front and...

M105a3 trailer, ugly yes or no?

If by "ugly" you mean awesumly beautiful then, yes I think they are ugly... Different looking yes, but form follows function and they function VERY well.
