What about M149 "water buffalos" they are made just for water. they are pretty cheap and the LMTV would haul no problem. Mine is stainless interior so no rust.
The only highway trip I have tracked was to get 10k# M989a1 trailer with my M1084. 3 hours throttle mashed at 55MPH each way.
Going with no trailer 6.4 MPG. Coming back with trailer 6.5 MPG.
When I got mine the fuel filter was off side of block and starter was in floorboard. Figured out the fuel lines from tank to separator were shot. They were so brittle they snapped like sticks when bent. Thats where they lost prime and burned up starter trying to get running.
Here is where I bought mine from the factory. They were really good to work with.
12414360: $199.00 each + $100.00 crating fee & LTL freight (variable)
12414355-001: $150.00 each (no crating or packaging fee. Can ship via UPS)

I think it will work. The one that came on my truck was a 1506. I replaced it with a 1505. The only difference I saw was the regulator for each was different and would not swap from one alt to another. The 1506 had the regulator with led lights on it. 1505 regulator did not have leds.
I have noticed the Blue Bunny ice cream trucks have a really nice box on them as they would be hella insulated as well. I have seen some selling cheap on auction sites.
Should be able to take them to a plastic and rubber company and they can hook you up with new ones. The one around me is Hanna rubber. I have seen similar when getting other items.
Lost my headlights last week when I hit highbeams pulling into my driveway. Figured turn signal switch but have not had time to look at it. Where did you find them?
Also my voltmeter was jumping but over a couple months kept getting lower and lower then alternator went out. I just thought it...
The trucks I have seen this on seemed to be some of the oddball trucks that needed upfitting later like the extended wheelbase cab chassis with no beds.
After reading this I don't think my new dryer is purging. I have been wondering but had not had time to check it out.
So the small air line is what triggers the purge? Does it take pressure or lack of pressure to trigger? Sorry new to air brakes.aua
