My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

. It is amazing when you hit those first few "hits" on the sanding machine. By the way - what is it? That you use to smooth the edges?

XM816 Wrecker - Only Took Ten Years

. Wow! Seems like "you done good" :) . I looked for bees on the crane winch. I didn't see anything? If they are hornets or wasps, I would give them "the business" with a can of WD40 or similar. If they happen to be honeybees, try calling the local agricultural extension to save them...

M35a2 New style torque rod ends

. A quick search finds the greasable version on ePay for almost $700. Looking at one of our advertisers (here on the site) - They offer rubber replacements for $60 each. You are going to need a "press" to extract the old and install the new. It SUCKS but they are obtainable...

    Starting Issues

. Possibly the ground... The frame to motor ground and the battery to ground connections. Remove them, wire brush the snot out of them, add a little bit of antioxidant paste, then reattach.

Do we know how long the auctions will continue?

. Your guess is as good as anybody - but my guess is that they will keep on auctioning until they run out. Don't think that is going to happen any time soon.

    Central FL M1031 project

. I'm guessing that the wire brush in a drill and pressing down hard to clean carbon deposits could eat away metal.

    Radiator question.

. Is that second radiator for cooling the HVAC in the vehicle?

    Spring hanger

. I would say yes. Those bushings look to be just about shot... Have you carefully inspected the springs with the wheels off the truck? A single broken leaf in the springs could settle it down as well.

My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

. Yes Sir! Orange wood. Never heard of it, but then again too - I am not a real "timber" kind of guy. It is definitely pretty wood... Wonder how it grows? I did a quick search and it seems that guitars are made out of it. Osage Orange is a really durable wood. Not sure if that is the...

    M816 Wrecker - General Questions

. Don't know about the super singles and limiting suspension travel - but the outriggers are manual. Pull them out, rotate them toward the ground, then use the screw jacks to lift the truck a fuzz. Most 816's are manual steering or "Arm Strong" steering. By default, there are no lockers in...

    CUCV steering column removal

. I believe the post from @WWRD99 holding the box (above) from Delco shows the part number.

    CTIS

. You might post the vehicle type and maybe a serial number so we can be a little more helpful. Might be worth rummaging the Technical Manuals here to download the manual for your unit. They aren't awful to work on. Especially if you have the book.

    m925a2 winch issue?

. Have you checked the shear pin? If you have a solid place to attach the winch - and a second body out under the truck - what happens if you engage the winch? In other words does it pull or not. The winch on a 925 is generally powered by hydraulics, and if that is the case there really isn't...
